Having a soulmate, I can say, yes, there is a way to know.  You simply "know", and they know as well.  The hard part is being able to differentiate between love and lust.  Soul Mates are complimentary, not alinke.  Ying-Yang like, the whole greater than the sum of the parts.  If your Metaphysical, you can really tell, and with effort you can 'wake up' your soulmate.  Then things really get cooking!

A very good healer can see the bond, but I can't give you some absolute test.

Sounds like a Soulmate to me.  You can have more than one, the definition is loose.  Some say you know the soul from past incarnations or other work on the other side of the veil.  Others say that you respond to each other on higher levels, the 'Soul' level as well as the physical and mental levels, and the's the reason for the connection.

Sometimes it's an unconcious connection, and sometimes it burns so bright others can weep at seeing it.

Ahhh there is always a catch isn't there. A soulmate is not necessarily one that you will have a romantic relationship with. I have met someone that I might well consider a soulmate, but romanticly things did not feel right. I have also talked to many people who have said that their soulmates did not turn out to be the person they were ment to mate with in this life. So, and especially since he is involved in a relationship, it might be best to be careful and not jump into anything too quickly. This might be a test to show you that you can love and care for someone and not be involved romanticly but on a higher level. But who knows what the future or path holds.

I agree with Fallnangel here, not for philosophical reasons, but for reasons of personal experience.

I have two soulmates in my life at the moment - one is my wife. There was a connection, a recognition between us that went way beyond the physical from the first moment we met.

The other is my best friend - also a female, but even with the strong love we share, there is no romantic involvement between us. Its more like we are "partners in crime" than romantic partners. []

In both cases, there is a very strong soul-level connection. My wife and I share thoughts to the point that we can finish each other's sentences. We did this from the start. My best friend and I laugh as one of us verbalises exactly what the other was thinking. We also share a common spiritual path.

Consider then that soul mates need not have anything to do with physical attraction, though there will always be a high level of genuine love and affection between you. Soul mates need not be of different sexes, they can often be close friends of the same sex. As the term implies, this is a soul-level connection, which trancends the physical. You will feel like you have known them all your life, because you have known them before this life. You are two souls that have travelled the universe together, and have agreed before incarnating to find each other while in the physical.

If you feel you have met a soul mate, there will be a "knowing", as Rastus said. You will feel the connection straight away, even if you are unsure of what that connection is at first. If it is a romantic encounter, no matter how much your heart may be leaping at the prospect, you don't need to push things or worry about it at all. Surrender your concerns to the universe, because if the universe has brought you two together, you won't be able to stay apart.

I asked my guide about this once and she mentioned something very similar.  She told me that there aren't so much "eternal" lover soulmates are there are souls that are very, very close together, and have loved each other over many incarnations.  In that sense, she is one of my soulmates, and other friends I have now or may have in the future may be other soulmates.

She also added that, quite frankly, some people who say they have not found true love because they can't find their soulmate are trying to make up excuses for their own immaturity and selfishness in regard to romantic relationships.  Even if you find a romantic partner who is a soulmate in the sense mentioned above, it does not prevent the possibility of the relationship ending in a breakup or divorce, and this does indeed sometimes happen.  (Not refering to anyone here, this is just what she told me).

That's another intersting situation LOTB - that your guide is a soulmate. I can see how this would work well. One of you chooses to incarnate into a situation where you feel you might need the support and guidance of a dear friend "on the outside", so the other chooses to remain in spirit to give that support. I would say I have two, or maybe three soulmates also.  One in the fact that me and her are very close in the romantic sense, it was just meant to be from the begining as I couldn't stop thinking about her, even though I already had a romantic interest, I even had to stop myself from saying my soulmates name instead of my RI's.

The other two are people that I hold very dear to me, a two best friends Chris and Tia.  Tia is my close female freind, sometimes I think so close that if I wasn't with Raine then I would be with her.

Chris on the other hand I would be going with you James and what happens with your wife.  Me and him have that sort of connection where we just finish each others sentences and have done so since the begining of knowing each other, me thinks that we were partners (not in the romantic sense) in a past life, we just are a good combo.

From my personal experience I'd say I met a russian girl in Budapest some time ago that could be a soulmate of mine. I do not know for sure, but I feel some kind of affinity. We did understand each other very well from the first moment we met and were able to feel each others feelings intensely. It was just a thrilling feeling to put our hands together and hug each other. I was so full of joy and luck that moment, I do not know if I did experience something similar before. It was just wonderful. I'm still in contact with her through e-mail, visiting her once in while in Budapest, I really care for her.

I thank all of you for your insight and taking the time to read & reply.
I also should mention that this man & myself have known eachother for 15 years.

I had first met him through his sister(my friend),when I first met him he was 12 years old & I was 19(still there was always this energy/ feeling even back then..)
Now I am 33 and he is 25(not bad too bad he is in a relationship(but he was always a gorgeous guy,never had a problem w/the ladies)

I am hopeful for the future you never know what it may hold..I still feel in my soul that we will be together someday..

well, dunno if this relates, but i found out that anyone who brings tears to my eyes isnt the right person...they seem right at the time of course, but... just changes after that
and if your in a relationship with someone, if the first thing you worry about is when you will break up, then that never works out in the end either.
may not be the same for everyone, but from what ive seen it is.
i dont date or crush or whatever anymore anyway, though..

Is there something you can do maybe some sort of a test or can someone cast a spell that can tell you?

Yes, as Rastus said, it is a feeling, a knowing on both parts and it can be a very challenging relationship to have particularly if the two (or one for that matter) is romantically involved with another.

There's not really any kind of test for it.
It really boils down to one of those "Know Thyself" things.
You need to know yourself, your heart, and have a good connection with your soul - your spirit self. When these come together, knowing if someone is a soulmate or not becomes a matter of intuition. You know who and what they are, and they will feel the same about you. You need to know your heart because it is something that you must feel. Its not something you can sort it out with your mind.

It used not to be this way. If I were still with my ex wife, the green eyed monster would have blocked my every move. But then, we never had anything more than a physical connection, and in time, that became painfully apparent.

Personally I think that soulmates, or maybe it is the ideas associated with that word, are overrated. It is great to have a higher connection with other people, but people that are different than you are can teach you a lot. Getting hung up on the label of soulmate to the point of exclusion of appreciating other people is not a good thing.

I don't know about other people but I still date others and don't have all my hopes and dreams hung up on this one person..besides he is with another woman...But I KNOW we have a bond a connection that does go down deeper than the physical plane,It is a feeling a sense I guess.

I've always wondered if there was one person meant just for me. I've had a few relationships but none of them felt right. I often knew whether a person was right or not within a week. The one time I didn't know was when I was so attracted physically to him, I couldn't see he didn't feel the same way. To be honest, I had so many wrong feelings about people I gave up looking. I decided that the right person will come along eventually and I will be unable to avoid him. Looking wasn't nessacry.

I met someone online a few years ago that blew me away. From the first time I glanced at his Nickname while reviewing a forum I was compelled to learn more about him. We started talking to one another and I relized he felt the same way. We both felt sure we were meant for each other, but he is engaged. Settling with, just being friends has not been easy, but we are all the closer for it. I know I can always rely on him and he can rely on me as well. If there are such things as soulmates, he is mine.

I dont think that we have a soulmate.. i do belive that there are certain persons that we feel really nice being with. Mainly when that two persons have many things in commom. Some say that the opposits attract but thats only in the material world. When i think in love i think about it as something metaphysical!!

So.. in the metaphysical world (astral world) opposits dont attract. Once i belived firmly that soulmates exist but by now (perhaps there is a little pessimism on me) i cant belive anymore on soulmates, since i had the first experiences about astral projection. Think of the fact that when you are in the astral world you have no bounderies, so why should you have in terms of love? I think love as being an universal property.. Universal Love

There is no Soul Mate as such since all are of the same soulb, but there are soul mates recognized as such in the physical realm.
