Great job. I would say that you were so focused on what you were doing that the shift was occurring. Once you became aware of the mild vibrations and the brief images, you indirectly stopped the flow.
It is time to just passively observe when the signposts/symptoms of a approaching shift occurs. Once the scene become vivid, then you can join it. You will find that at first the imagery comes in waves. A brief image and then it's gone. Another one that stays longer, until finally a whole scene plays out.
I try to look beyond the first waves of imagery. That seems to almost instantly bring me deeper. I used to use a simple image of a flowing river. I first concentrated on just the flow of the water. Then slowly I became opening my awareness and peripheral vision, to more of the scene around the water, like maybe the shore or the landscape. The more I did that, the more a whole new world started to appear. Once that new world was vivid, I would look for anything that stood out and allow the curiosity of that object to take me even deeper. Each step of the way, you are grounding yourself further and further into this new scenario.
I found a good strong focus on Robert Bruce's NEW to be a excellent way of achieving the "shift". It's also a great way to alleviate pain.
Carry on!
