I think that's the problem I have with people like Tom Campbell or William Buhlman standing up and proclaiming the way. It tends to make people question the validity of their own experience.
I don't think you get as much out of your experience when you think it is "wrong" and someone else has the correct way to experience...if only you could experience things like that...
But see that's why Tom's book is called "My Big Toe". It's his own personal conclusions. He states often that "you" have to come to your own. He sees nothing wrong with being skeptical. All he does is describes and explains everything from what "he" has personally experienced. William seems to have more of a direct approach though.  But as I said, I respect what they have to say and definitely approve of their videos. I use their teachings and videos often as a "reference" links for new members here. Especially Tom's talks on fear, which is something that "must" be confronted to be able to "allow" a shift in consciousness to occur.

QuoteOn the other hand, I think teachers are important and its not the message of the teacher I have a problem with, it the way people interpret the message, judge the message, then proclaim the importance of the message.

Everything is a teacher and everything has a message, and no one thing has any significance over another. It is happening and that is all.
I have listened to some other Authors that state it's basically their way or the highway. One that comes to mind is Dr. Bruce Goldberg. I have personally heard him say on a radio station state that his was "the only way". I didn't like that at all.

I like to help to teach how to attain the "shift". There are many ways to do it. People can use my techniques or any other techniques from others to start with, but soon they will adapt to what works for them. You can find a number of them here on the Astral pulse in the "stickies" section of the sub forums. What you experience there is for "you" yourself to experience. This is the reason that I don't share my own adventures here. If I do, I normally use them as "examples" of what could be.

So recently I've been a bit inactive with "all this stuff" since I've traveled across to World to study and get a new experience, but today for some reason I started trying to make an energy ball with my hand for some reason.. Well I sat there for 10-15 minutes until it became very strong and both hands starting pulsating in a perfect rythm very visibly and it felt like there was a very strong energy between the hands keeping them apart but Close. Then all of a sudden I started seing a transparent Shell a bit around where I imagined and felt the energy ball I made!? It looked a bit like heat you can see on the roads in the summer but it was frozen in it's position? So I started filling the ball with hopes and stuff and then let it go.. Any thoughts? Im not really sure what I was doing or what I actually did or didn't do..
"Focused will and intent". You gotta love it!  :-)

Many times I begin with a simple imagery of a "child's spinning top". I got that idea from Leonardo DiCaprio in the movie Inception. But soon the "spinning top" will morph into something else and I "allow" it to continue and just sit back and observe it. This can actually lead into a full blown projection/shift if you immerse yourself deep enough into it.

I enjoy making energy balls as well though. That's actually the way I first introduce etheric energy movement to someone that wants to understand more about a shift in consciousness. Energy manipulation is very easy to do.

In fact you don't need experiences at all. This is the state if is-ness.
That is why we need this "filter". We came here to experience and learn from those experiences. Could you imagine everyone and everything here being in the state of constant "is-ness". That's not why we incarnate in any one of the many realms we could find ourselves in.

The state of "is-ness" that one will find themselves in would be the opportunity to finally assess all that was learned and experienced as the previous incarnated body.

This is fascinating! I always thought whatever state of awareness I would be in, I would always feel the me...or the personality of me, underneath it all.
Well how then, did you know you were you?
When reading through my post above the thought came to my mind that I wonder if this is what is actually responsible for "possession". Could it be that a person from another reality is in conscious control of another person in another reality. I became I was me I guess because I was aware of being in a another body period. That's kind of hard to explain. But the people I saw, the place I was living, things like that were always different. Many times I found myself in life and death predicaments that this other me had gotten me into and it seemed like I was becoming aware at a very crucial time in the scenario.

QuoteAnd another epiphany I had when reading your post, is that, this sate of is-ness that is so rare, is our core experience while inhabiting an insect? After all, an ant body is not much of a vessel.

Could it be that an anthill is just a million enlightened souls digging in the dirt?
I think the ant in this case would also have this "filter", otherwise it wouldn't be able to have it's "ant" life experience. But I don't remember ever being an ant, so I really can't answer that question, lol.

Then by all means, worry about it. Do something about it. Perhaps in some years you will come to believe something else and worry about that. So your life becomes worrying, searching, and doing. Sounds like your not alone. Sounds like me!
That should say "Don't worry about it, instead do something about it". There is no need to worry. Your life is all about experiencing and reacting to said experiences. The way you react shows whether or not you received the true message from the experience or not.

Some hear about Astral Projection and think "wow this would be cool to do". They put a weekend of work into it, see no results and move on to the next "flavor of the day". Others awaken to it and see it for all it can offer. They learn everything they can about and apply the time and effort that it takes to be successful with it and still others will go for the "full Monty". They will attempt to delve as deep as they can. They will learn how to be somewhat proficient in navigating the new realms they find themselves in. They will engage in grounding techniques to lengthen their own "other realm" experiences. They may even go as far as reaching out to teach others as many people on the Astral Pulse do. It all has to do with your current mindset and if you are willing and ready to "allow" this new way of thinking into your reality or not. Once you do though you open yourself up to extraordinary adventures. This is and always has been a personal Journey. This is the reason that we get so many different perceptions on what is "really" occurring from so many different people. A Scientist views it through the eyes of a Scientist. A Guru from the eyes of a Guru and so on. Robert Monroe perceived it in "frequencies". But his occupation involved frequencies and the understanding of them. Tom Campbell being a Physicist saw it through the eyes of a Physicist.

The core is your very existence itself. It has to be consciously aware or it can't exist. For the sense of individuality, a state of awareness unconnected to anything has to be accepted.
Szaxx your entire post was very good, as usual!  :-)

I have come to a conclusion and this is my own personal opinion or understanding that what we experience seems to come through whatever vessel we find ourselves in at the moment. I think every one of these vessels has a mind that acts as a filter and that consciousness itself has to penetrate this filter as well. Once it does, it gets whatever programming/teachings that you have experienced during your lifetime here. But the fact that you are in essence pure consciousness itself is one of the things that this "filter" blocks. Otherwise you wouldn't be able to experience anything the way that you do here. You need to have some form of "amnesia" to be able to experience anything anew.

I have become aware in my Dreams many times whereas in whatever one of the many Universes, aka Multiverses" I have found myself in, the personality that I had was completely different from my personality here. That would show me that my "mental conditioning" or let's say the way I was brought up or whatever I learned in that existence had to do completely with the way my "current" personality in that existence actually was. I know that sounds confusing, but like I said, this is what I have personally experienced myself and perhaps because I have written it here, some others people might understand this concept and have also experienced this as well.

This only comes though when I am conscious of being in a "vessel" and it shows through the predicaments that I find myself in when I first become consciously aware in my Dreams. It also shows in where I live, the people I find myself surrounded by and all kinds of things. All of these circumstances being completely different from my current life in this reality.

Then there comes the times when I become aware I am when I am just a singular point of consciousness. In these there is no need for a personality, because there is no actual "vessel" as in physical body of any form being used. The "core" as Szaxx put it doesn't show the characteristics of an incarnate body. It just "is". When you find yourself aware as this, you can't explain it in Human terms, because you aren't experiencing a Human or physical reality anymore. You don't really even find yourself in a place per say. You just "are". Terms like "is" and "just are" may not help people understand this further, but they are the only words that I can find that really explain it.

So I think our "filter" or mind per say, works just like a computer. We have seen computers being upgraded through the years, but we have also been witnessing that "upgrade" in the Human equation as well. Why does a insect not show the intelligence of a Human? It all has to do with the size and capability of the filter/computer and what their current "vessel" will be physically able to do. Are they conscious as well? Does every living thing have consciousness or is it more like is every either living or thing period consciousness itself? These things we will never know until one day we find ourselves again devoid of any kind of "vessel" and just "are" once more. I find it very difficult to stay in that mode through conscious projecting, lucid dreaming, OBEs, whatever form of shifting is being currently experienced at the moment for any length of time. But once you do experience even briefly, you know you just experienced something incredibly awesome and pretty well impossible to explain. We can only use "adjectives" to describe it.

I don't think it's being experienced via NDEs though. I think the person that is having the NDE is still too close to their current physical live and it's mindset and conditioning, as in beliefs and things like that, to be able to experience what it's like to just "be" again. Sometimes their current mental conditioning and mindset in general follows them for a quite awhile before they finally "allow" a new mindset to take it's place. But with other people like Monks, Yogi's, etc that have been mentally conditioned to release the physical mindset, the transition to just "being" is easier to achieve. This is why I agree whole heartedly with William Buhlman's approach. Mentally condition yourself now so when the time comes you are prepared and can be able to "navigate" through what comes next.

Hi all, this morning I could feel I was traveling out of my body.   I was going fast and I was traveling for a while.   I thought I have to get out of my body and of course it wrecked it.   When I woke up I realised that I was already out of my body.   This happened about five times.   Was I being pulled out of my body or did my inner self decided to go out traveling.    Perhaps no one can give an answer as no one may know.   I used to think that my inner self comes out of my body by itself.   Now I am not sure.
Hey Suzy. It sounds like you became consciously aware just at the point that you were already exiting/shifting. The "warp speed" exit has been talked about here on the Astral Pulse before. It seems like you are sky rocketing upwards or forwards at a supersonic speed. Sometimes you can even see lights flashing by akin to what you may see when the Starship Enterprise goes into warp drive. Gene Roddenberry must have had his own consciously aware OBEs/shifts as well. His visual interpretations are done so well in all of his movies.

Hello Jirchrd2. I hate to answer a question with a question, but what does this mean to you?

It could be a test to see how strong your desire for success here really is. But on the other hand, it could also be time to lay off it for awhile.

I can say though that some people that just decided to lay off it for awhile found out that it started happening spontaneously by itself. There are many stories like that shared here. Sometimes the harder we try, the more it evades us. Once we take the pressure off, we can begin anew, that's if it's "meant to be".

Secondly, I felt guilty – both because I felt as if I had "cheated", as I had not been trying as hard or as often as possible, and because I know that others have tried harder and more often than me with no success.
Hello Whirlwind and Welcome to the Astral Pulse!

I wanted to reply about that quote of yours above because I think you are underestimating the power of intent. The moment you picked up any book on Astral Projection, as you did with Robert Monroe's book or went to any Astral Travel related forum, you have just created a strong intent to consciously "shift". Many people report their first conscious projection coming after just simply hearing a video or like in your case picking up a book on Astral travel with the intent to not only project, but to also learn everything they can about this new "skill/Art".

As EV said above you masterfully described in full detail what a first experience can actually be and usually is for most people. Although most people are so bewildered by the experience that they tend to lose control so fast that they really can't explain what just happened to them. Then they usually just write it off as some kind of weird dream and go on with their lives as usual.

I experienced "outside" help as well. But only after I had my initial experience on my own. Mine came in the form of my deceased brother in law and he helped me to learn and understand how to navigate through these new realms and how important it was to passively observe everything I was seeing and soak it all in.

Now that you have seen what can be I am sure you hunger for more. The next lesson will be to learn to be able to ground yourself in the scenario you find yourself in. Robert's books are excellent and I am sure they will help you to excel in this!

Thank You for sharing. It's always good to hear another member's successes, especially someone new to this practice and here's to many more!  :-)

Hello mcdwg. I experience some great OBEs due to sleep paralysis, still today. I don't need to initiate SP though. I just spontaneously awaken in it and see it through.

But a former member here named Bedeekin created a sticky that can be found here that explains a pre nap/pre sleep technique that will normally induce full Sleep Paralysis. I have used it in the past, but found that it only worked when it was done sporadically. Meaning, you can't do a pre nap every night and induce SP. Your body begins to get used to that schedule and won't be thrown out of balance like it is does when you do a pre nap/pre sleep once in awhile.

Positive3, you will find that after awhile of practice conscious projection daily, that just sitting reading a book or focusing on a Movie/TV program will also start the onset of vibrations and the same feelings akin to sleep paralysis. You are beginning to notice something that was already there, but you just weren't aware of it before. The Art of Astral projection has many "perks".

Here is a link to some of the many things you could, but don't always need to experience while attempting a conscious projection.

Hello and Welcome AstroMan!

"What should you do"? Don't panic. I know that's easier to say then do. But you were attempting to project, so when said projection occurs, like the feeling of "lifting", don't panic. It sounds like you have found a technique that works for you.

Our first conscious projections can be pretty strange. They normally make our "fight or flight" instincts kick into overdrive. What you need to do is to passively observe everything that occurs with just a sense of curiosity and like Xanth said above "Keep doing what you're doing, because you're doing it right".  In other words, stay the course.

Also, keep a Journal of with your results. Anything you experience anew is always known as positive progress.

When you finally do succeed to have a full conscious projection, the next thought you think you will see. In this new "realm" thought = action almost instantaneously. So be careful what those thoughts or intents are.

A good thing to try at this time is to access your "happy place". Find a place or create a place where you feel comfortable. Then use that as your personal "training ground". Use that as your initial place for exploration every time you consciously project.

Good Luck and Safe Travels!  :-)

Thanks for the reply,

Yeah through lucid dreaming I have learned that life is also a dream that operates under many of the same principles even though it might not seem like it. I've only had a couple close AP encounters that were extremely intense and short, yet I've had many long lucid dreams but they weren't the same experience really. I found similarities but I noticed many teachers like robert bruce who teaches both AP and LD claims they are definitely not the same 'realm' of experience even though it's a projection.

EDIT: Found an article about it by robert bruce http://blog.astraldynamics.com/2009/11/30/the-differences-between-real-time-and-astral-obe-and-lucid-dreaming/

Really cool integrates what you were saying about both just being projections, he finally says the AP is more of a physical/astral body double, whereas lucid dreaming is more of a mental projection, however the lucid dream can have astral experiences and the asrtal realm is also overlapped with the mental so can ironically go both ways.
They are both "projections", but I find also that they take place in different ,as Kurt Leland says, "Otherwheres".
  http://www.kurtleland.com/astral-projection-log/orientation/133-overview-of-planes-and-bodies

My LDs seems to be in a parallel dimension similar to this one. My physical exit OBEs always begin in the RTZ, then they normally stay of a more physical body related nature. My conscious APs seem to take place more on a "mental" level, where I find myself more of "point of consciousness".

Kurt Leland is the only one so far that I can totally relate too. Well Kurt and some other members here on the Astral Pulse Forums.

I agree with Xanth though, Robert Bruce does do a lot of "fear based teaching". I try to avoid that kind of negativity at all costs.

I don't know how long this link will be good though. They seem to disappear pretty quick these days! This interview link is also commercial free.

That was a MONUMENTAL ACHIEVEMENT Fowlskins. GREAT JOB

You awoken during SP and stayed consciously aware during the entire process. Believe me, that is quite a accomplishment in itself. It can get pretty strange at times. You then had a full OBE in every sense of the word.

On top of that you maintained your awareness all the way through the scenario at hand "knowing" exactly what was happening along the way. You also grounded yourself firmly into the new realm that you were experiencing.

Once again GREAT JOB!  :-)

i hope this helps

If you think like that you are going to find the Astral to be a place of sheer terror and darkness. Look for love there instead of parasites. Look for personal growth instead of Demons. Your experiences there will mock what your current mindset is. If you go looking for Demons, Demons you will find!

Quote from: Stillwater on January 06, 2016, 23:38:30
Hope that clarifies things!
Very masterfully and well worded Stillwater!  :-)

My conclusions all spawn from my own personal experiences.

In 2011 I first came to this Forum and began absorbing the information here like a sponge. My first attempt at a conscious AP came from a simple "candle burning" technique. From there I attempted to AP everyday. Not all attempts were successful, as in a full projection. But they all led to progress on some level. Experiencing the signposts, learning how to just passively observe them and things like became my entire focus. My occupation has me travelling all over the country and in my travels I met others that do AP consciously aware as well.

After awhile I could just close my eyes and see something there. From there it moved onto becoming aware in LDs. For a couple of years or so, this became my "mode" for experiencing other realms. This is when I really began to experience "parallel universes" as well. This also led to "uploads/downloads" whatever you want to call it. LDs became my mode of adventure due to my Trigeminal Neuralgia. Actually I believe that my TN actually helped me. I learned "Dream Yoga" because of it. It also forced me into finding a new way to AP as well.

Today I practice conscious APs a few times a week. I do meditate every day though. But on top of that I have very vivid LDs almost every night.

I also experience what begins as RTZ (real time zone) OBEs. Once I exit my patio window I find myself somewhere else, some other realm. These are totally spontaneous and always happen due to SP.

As you stated the other realms have their own lessons but so does this current one. I believe and have been shown that we came to this physical to experience it in all it's shapes and forms. The same goes with the other realms though. They are all experiences and the more we do experience, the deeper our experiences get.

This practice in general makes you consciously aware of every realm, this current one included. You seem to unlock unique abilities that you have always had, but have just never noticed. You are completely open to learning anew everywhere you go or are.

I have not experienced anything that convinces me otherwise. If you think very carefully about it, it only makes sense.
How often do you or did you consciously project Stillwater?

Why is it that the slightest shock or emotion can place us right back into our body?  Answer: Fight or flight response. Fear still controls us. Frank Kepple explained it this way "So a person who has mild difficulties controlling their emotional-state while Physical, will tend to have serious difficulties within the Astral which could take significant time to overcome. But someone who can easily keep their emotions in check while Physical, chances are, will have only fairly mild difficulties within the Astral, which will be quickly overcome."
That quote came from this thread here where Frank was explaining the "Astral Proper and Training Zone".
http://www.astralpulse.com/forums/welcome_to_astral_consciousness/astral_proper_and_training_zone-t4296.0.html

Why is the world we experience out there so much like our own subconscious brain's view of reality? Answer: They are only in the beginning stages. Once you just learn to passively observe, you will find that all the lessons there are meant to prepare you for a new way of thinking

Why do we continue to have the hopes and desires and fears of a human person? Answer: Same as above

Why are the beings we meet generally so much like our own minds? Answer: Same as above

Why do we experience the world with senses very similar to those of a human person? Answer: Same as above. The answer after your #2 question seems to apply to all of the rest of your questions.

Isn't it more likely that we never left, and were in something like a dream-state? Answer: Yes and no. When you constantly find yourself living in an entirely different dimension for nights on end, you realize that this is not just a Dream. Now this realization comes from what would be known as the Lucid Dream state. But I have had enough of these to know without a shadow of a doubt that something real is occurring there. If I was a Author, I could write a book on my "other" life, with all the pages in my Dream Journals I have already written. But I have no wish to do that at all.

The beginning stages of a conscious AP do start akin to a Dream state though. Things are not immediately as clear as they are from a LD state. It takes awhile for vivid imagery to appear during a conscious AP.
[/quote]
These questions can be answered with two words "Human conditioning". Once we move beyond that we see in an entirely different way.

QuotePut another way... let's suppose we actually were leaving our body, and traveling elsewhere. How does that make sense? Where would we go? If we were traveling to a realm beyond time and space, why would we have to travel to get there? Couldn't we just close our eyes and be anywhere at all in this space without space? Isn't that what actually really happens in practice, in the projection experience? People just will themselves into other mental spaces. So if there is no travel involved... we never really left to begin with.
It doesn't make sense. At least no sense that can be proven as of this moment in time. But ask yourself this, how do you take a bunch of Neutrons, Electrons and Protons, put them together and get a consciously aware Human being out of this? Consciousness is the main link here. But Science doesn't know for sure exactly what "consciousness" is and what it's limits are.

We can just close our eyes and be anywhere. But first we have to lose our Human conditioning and "allow" that shift to take place. A couple of years ago and still today sometimes I was experiencing this myself. I would just simply close my eyes and find myself somewhere else. I wrote about this before here when I had this happen for the first time while taking a shower. I got some shampoo in my eyes and closed them quickly and found that I was teetering on the end of a raging waterfall. I got so disoriented that I really started to fall. I grabbed my shower curtains and nearly yanked them down. For awhile this happened only in my shower. I actually started to think my shower was some kind of "portal" or something, lol. I questioned whether the running water had anything to do with it too. Once I closed my eyes in there and found myself naked in the middle of a city akin to New York. People were just walking as normal, but I felt "very" naked in every sense of the word.

I emailed Tom Campbell and asked if he could explain this to me and he replied that this was a "new exploratory phase" and that "Phases come and go as you are ready to learn and absorb them".

Was I dreaming? No, this imagery was there immediately and as vivid as this reality is now. I know Szaxx and others have and still do experience this to this day as well. It only happens periodically with me now.

Now this isn't like when I close my eyes to create visualization. The images that are seen are completely spontaneous at the time. There was no "willing" or intent involved in this.

Perhaps we never have to leave, because it is always there. The process of AP just teaches us how to simply shift our focus into one of the endless realities that just are there.

During a OBE though there seems to be a very strong feeling of moving away from the body. When I have them from SP they usually take the same path, which is a exit from my feet/legs, down my hallway and out my patio window into wherever or whatever I need to see. I never make any conscious intent other than to trust that where I end up is where I need to.

Tongo, you registered here August 01, 2007. So in 6 years I am sure you have read countless posts with a ton of first hand experiences in them. Do you think everyone is making this up?

The simple answer to your question is YES it is "real".

Science sees things in terms of objective and subjective. If they can't see the "nuts and bolts" and how the system operates, then their conclusion is there must be no system period. But old science has been replaced with new science. Changes are being made to things they thought they had knew all the time. Someday further Quantum and Scalar Wave research will help them to uncover and understand the Multiverse better.

I came up with a few SP hits when searching for this, but this is why I'm skeptical. how is this a sleep paralysis if I don't ever exit my body? i just feel really really heavy and it's a really freaked out feeling. it makes uncomfortable and almost nauseous. how to exit the body once you experience these sensations? I'd love to get back into OBEing, but i just don't have the energy or time. one thing that works is napping and then going back to sleep visualizing. but i got insomnia so falling asleep is not the easiest thing to do for me. marijuana helps but i been doing it a lot lately and need a break... thanks for your reply, though. i'm gonna read both of the threads you linked.
Hmm. let's see, on one hand you want to know why it's occurring and how to use it to project, but then you say "I don't have the energy or time". It sounds like you are fighting yourself here.

I experience this "lead blanket" feeling very shortly after I close my eyes. It means that you are almost immediately losing your focus on your physical body, but you then are losing your conscious awareness and are falling asleep. You are already half way there, the only thing you need to work on is "keeping your awareness".

There are some great stickies to be found in this section to help you with just that:http://www.astralpulse.com/forums/welcome_to_astral_consciousness-b30.0/

Lastly, you get out of this skill or art what you put into it. If you can't find the energy or time, then you shouldn't expect favorable results.

Since many people believe that what they see in a movie or video is the truth, here is a very short video that is easily understood and gets right to the heart of SP in general.

Ever since I was a kid, this happens to me in a very rare times. maybe once or a year or so. I feel every part of my body is 10x heavier, my arms, legs, butt, torso, and the whole body. I feel like I weight a ton. It really feels odd, and I just either try to fall asleep or get up and shake it off. the only thing I could come up with is health boards and medical help, which is useless! i don't like western medical advice because it doesn't explain anything. "it just happens, and we don't know why". so I was wondering if anyone here knows what this thing is. this is all i could find when it comes to spiritual answer
I too went to a Health Forum for answers after a quite adventurous 3 day event back in 2011. This board was "Webmed.com". I made a post there with near the same symptoms. After about a month, a member there mentioned the AstralPulse.com forums, so I came here and finally found my answers.

The sensation you are feeling is known as the "lead blanket" and is a symptom/signpost of Sleep Paralysis. We experience SP while becoming consciously aware spontaneously either starting to or returning from a shift in consciousness, otherwise known as a projection.

These threads here will help you understand more about this phenomenon: http://www.astralpulse.com/forums/welcome_to_out_of_body_experiences/everything_you_could_ever_want_to_know_about_sleep_paralysis-t38734.0.html

The funny part is that, most people think that stuff like the "third eye" is some kind of spiritual things... but even thinking there's a "third eye" is still being stuck in the physical paradigm.
...and yet for countless decades mankind has produced some of the most incredible projections by focusing on it.

It's a "conundrum" of sorts. True it doesn't objectively exist, but focusing on it creates success. Once again, it comes to belief. If you think it will work it will, it will. But who knows for sure though, there might be more to it just than just belief. The same goes with using crystals, unique stones, other objects or even doing energy work. According to the scientific community none of those hold any credence. But then again the same science community says that astral projection doesn't either.

Last year the scientific community finally came to the realization that Lucid Dreaming does exist. But as usual they needed to see the "mechanics" or some kind of mechanic in the brain to make it possible, some kind of "objective" scientific proof.  Now they are working on how to "manipulate" it.
