"Balance", this is the prefect word for those that wish to delve deeper into conscious projection.

You ask why it is that when you become aware that your session or experience just ends, especially via a Lucid Dream. Well, what happens when you become aware? You think of this reality, but also of your "physical self" Your physical self is also your physical body. So, in a way, you have returned your focus back to this reality, instead of staying engaged in the other.

I have had this problem as well and yes it led to blocks. I needed to learn how to "stay" in the moment. Anchoring worked, but only so much. What really worked was to completely "immerse" myself in the scenario or plot at hand. I knew I was Dreaming, there were DTs (Dream Triggers) all over my experiences. But I mentally noted them without destroying my focus on the scene at hand. Hence the word "balance" is appropriate. That's why I always say there is plenty of time to question it afterwards.

Now looking at this from a conscious Phase session, balance is still needed. Yes you have a intended destination or target let's say. But you can still immerse yourself in the act. Example you find yourself on a Island. Go explore what you can find. Hey there's a cave. What's in it? Go explore. I'm not going to question whether it's real or not, meaning, I'm not engaging a "analytical mind". My mindset then is "curiosity". Curiosity alone is enough to totally immerse and engage you further into a scene.

This also stops "flitting around", which is another problem people have. They finally project and find themselves all over the place. I did that as well until finally a Guide (my deceased Brother inlaw) just appeared and told me to calm down and just observe. He then became a regular in many of my experiences and taught me many different "skills" I would need to "navigate", understand and gain some form of control over my experiences. Then one day, he wasn't there anymore. I wish he had showed up again because I wanted to show respect and thank him. But I guess he moved on to his next challenge.

Balance comes with practice. You don't need that kind of balance to just experience the Astral. That can be done with a simple shift of focus, like that created by the "Candle Burning" technique. Balance is needed when you wish to "stay" there for a period of time.

But instead of drawing conclusions of other people's experiences and theories, I will try Projecting myself.
BINGO, we have a winner!  :-)

I was so hoping you were going to say that. Nothing beats "firsthand" experiencing. Learn the Art, practice often and come to your own conclusions of what is and what isn't. Journal your results no matter how trivial they may be.

...and finally just remember, you need to learn to walk before you can run!

...and Rusty, here is a thread filled with "validations" from members here to answer this question you had "So, all jokes and fanfictions aside, has anyone tried this or anything similar and made it work?" There are 9 pages of personal validations to be read there.

Positive3, although that whole post by EscapeVelocity was very well put, I wanted to especially highlight this part of it for rustydreams to understand.
My advice is to spend some time here reading up on techniques and anything that catches your interest to get yourself thinking in more of a Non-Physical way of looking at this practice. Some simple, daily meditation is good to start training your mind for the control that will be required.

Rusty, you get out of this practice what you put into it. This "new level of science", as you put it, is something Science can't fully understand at this time our development. Yet, this isn't a "new level" at all though. It has been there since the dawn of man. You have a shift in consciousness every night when you go to sleep. You just aren't aware of it.

Being skeptical is healthy. But a true "Scientist" would put a lot of time into his research before he came to any conclusions of what is or what isn't occurring. Some people have said that it took them years to have their first conscious projection experience. Others had theirs after just simply listening to a video on Astral projection or reading a book on the topic.

Although recently when I was in this meditative state I recall drifting off into a dream state only to become consciously aware for a brief moment I was dreaming, and then my head started buzzing and it felt like I was "high", not exactly what smoking marijuana feels like but it felt somewhat similar, and trust me there was none of that in my system at the time or for awhile. The noise inside my head wasn't exactly the high pitched whining sound I hear about when someone is about to project but it most definitely did not sound normal. Not entirely sure if what I felt was some sort of early stage of the whole experience or something else entirely but it most certainly felt "different"
Hell jwb21 and Welcome!

Check out this thread on "Exit Symptoms". You will see that what you experienced above is a "signpost" of an approaching shift in consciousness.
There are some pretty bizarre things that can be experienced during a exit/shift. Bizarre sounds definitely included.

 Hello and Welcome!

Nothing anyone says here will really prepare you for what you are about to experience yourself. Those examples above are just plain words. Experiencing them is for real!

You can do all of those things and much, much more! But lose your expectations and just allow yourself to experience what you see or where you find yourself. Passively observe everything. You can question it all afterwards.

Is there anything I can do differently to try and get deeper into these experiences without them aborting?
Yes, leave your "analytical mind" behind and enjoy the experience. Passively observe everything with just a "air of curiosity". There will be plenty of time to question it later. In other words, loose yourself in the moment!

The "Candle Burning" tech is very good. I had my first brief projection while using it. About 15 minutes after blowing out the candle I felt the most extreme vibrations and heard a very loud sound that was similar to a Helicopter, but this Helicopter sounded like it was landing on my roof. It scared the "beejeebus" out of me, but I couldn't wait to do it again. I was hooked!

Truthfully though all you need is a strong focus outside of your physical body. There are tons of techniques. But as said above, pick one that fits you. Use your imagination. Be creative. We all know what makes us "tick", what we are comfortable with!

 Hello and Welcome!

I had that problem as well when I first began to practice conscious Aping. I rectified it by changing my "focus" target. I found that when I focused on my breathing, that I still had my focus on my physical body instead of focusing "outside" of the body. I needed to just "lose" myself in something that would take my entire physical focus away.

Here's some examples of some focus targets/techniques that may help you. You don't have to do them exactly the way I have explained them. Try them as they are written to start with, but then adapt into your own technique. something you are comfortable with.

It's kind of like the writing becomes like a log book of accomplishments, to be able to hold up and point to all these things I did, or be able to tell other people what I did, on this forum or elsewhere. But recording them and bragging about them isn't what it should be about, and for me I think I would keep falling into that trap if I'm not careful. I think I'd rather forget some of it than fall into that trap.
It's supposed to be a "personal log" for your eyes only, unless of course you are writing a book. Then it would be known as valued research.

thanks for the help lumaza and escape, even after all these years of astral travel some of the most basic things that can become a barrier still have to be over come again and again and there isn't always an obvious answer.
Your Welcome!  :-)

I don't think it's the case of an inability to find an answer. I think it's more like when you become comfortable using the same technique every time, that you get "challenged" to think anew. By thinking anew and trying anew, you tend to open new doorways. It all has to with continuing and showing the will to evolve.

I thought dreams are just a kind of OBE, and it's mainly a matter of how much clarity and lucidity I have?
They are both "non local states of consciousness". But I have found that they have there differences per say.

QuoteI'm actually not all that interested in logging my dreams except as they relate to becoming lucid like the one I wrote about a few posts above. I feel like there's so much symbology that isn't going to translate well enough for me to make sense of it here. The other stuff is more interesting to me, all the noises I hear and anything else totally lucid like that. Maybe I shouldn't ignore the dreams so much? Is dream recall that important?
That "symbology" is what defines your Dream experience. It's where your lessons lie.

Dream recall is very important. It's a one way call from your higher consciousness. It shows you what you should possibly be working on in this physical life experience. By writing your Dreams in a Dream Journal you are showing your "higher" that you are willing to do what it takes to learn more. You are also training yourself to have more recall in your conscious AP attempts as well.

Logging your Dreams will also show you patterns that you normally might miss out on.

I become Lucid in most of my Dreams now. This has come through my "will" and intent to. The constant/continuous nightly "affirmations", logging them, etc.. All those things add up.

Lumaza,
What book or resource did you use to learn the art of Dream Yoga?
I had heard Robert Moss talking about "active Dreaming. But when it come down to it, my teacher was Trigeminal Neuralgia. I'm sure my higher self played the role in creating it. But with TN I couldn't just fall asleep like regular people did. When I began experiencing staying awake well into my Dreams, I did a search on YouTube for any videos about Tibetan Dream Yoga, but they only explained the History of it. They didn't really get into the "applications" of it.

Here's a link to a thread that was made here on the Astral Pulse to a couple of Robert Moss videos. They are excellent.

The part which annoys me the most is the feeling that you understood it and then you can't recall a single thing yet it was pleasant. It's really deep in the sense that every time I enjoy things in life, I won't lose the memory of it instantly like this, it takes a long time.

How can something so pleasant be forgotten in such a short matter of time.
Too much information download perhaps?
And in all that, these thoughts don't even feel complex, they're just so logical that I feel stupid every time I can't remember it.
I believe that if it was "forgotten", that your consciousness had a good reason for "blanking/wiping" it out. Perhaps the new "revelation" would get in the way of your physical life experience here.

I always try to look for a "silver lining" in things because there seems to always be one. It's just that sometimes it's so hard to find it!  :|

i foudn the part about how the heart controls the senses through the parasympathetic and sympathetic nervous system pretty interesting , for ppl who didnt check it out it basically explains when you oxygenate the blood and revitalize the nerves and get your body and mind into complete relaxation , through focusing on the point between your eyebrows  (the part of the brain that controls will power and concentration) and being aware of ( not focusing on ) your breath you can start to control the life force.your breath will slowly start to calm and (happens faster each time with practice) as a result your heart slows down , and because your body is so oxygenated and relaxed it stops producing co2 rich blood for your lungs to clean and your heart to pump, so in time they seem to completely stop, and when the heart goes into rest it retracts the life force from ur heart witch in turn  switches off ur five senses, bringing the life force back into the spine and brain, and the resulting freed life force starts to revitalize every cell  in your body, but when your five senses turn off you have no more imput coming in creating new thoughts witch will stop all thoughts caused by past memories freeing the single pointed concentration to do what it wants, personally
That process reminds me of a technique I did before that I found on the web known a "Throat Breathing". With Throat Breathing you are creating a "raspy" breath that you actually force and hear. At the same time you are concentrating on the area between your brows. Then you begin to create a Pyramid effect by concentrating on your 3rd eye (brow) and your 2 out stretched hands simultaneously. This created some pretty cool visual illusions, especially based on the color purple. From there you incorporate your Heart, lungs and anything else you wish to add into the "focus". It can create some strong Kundalini sensations as well.

This turned into a great thread. I have seen the Rogan interview, that is how I got onto Wim Hof originally. The full course is quite good so far, albeit very expensive. There is another brilliant interview from last week which discusses the possibilities of Atlantean civilization and its impact on other ancient cultures with fairly solid evidence.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aDejwCGdUV8

This is interesting - can you describe the second screen in more detail? Where does it exist? I have experienced the regular, in front of your eyes screen with both physical and seemingly non physical input such as clouds of green and purple.

Then there is the mysterious viewport that doesn't seem to have any spacial correlation. Inside this I usually see resolved images and sometimes short lived dreams.

I have realized that focusing on vision seems to activate my physical eyes more than I would like. To avoid this I put myself into a mental zone where I am ignoring the screen behind my eyes. In this mode I don't really see anything, you are somewhat unaware of even the backs of your eyes. From this point the non-spacial viewport can emerge suddenly.

I don't know how all of this ties in with focus on the 3rd eye. The instructions for doing so seem to vary from instructor to instructor, I feel like I am not doing it correctly.

The book seems really good so far, a mechanical method to removing sense input as a distraction is something I have been searching for. I haven't made it to the detail on how it all works yet but I hope it works for me!
Thanks for the link Theory, another video to listen to tonight!  :-)

The second screen seems like it is much higher up. It actually seems like it doesn't even come from the location of the head at all. The first screen is easy to identify with. It's right in front of me. I see through it like I do my regular open eyes. The second screen begins in a cloudier atmosphere though. It's like I can actually see a "border" around it as well, akin to looking through a tunnel or telescope. The border seems to be either of a round or oval shape. The images start off as just basic shapes, but then seem to come to life. But like I explained above, I have no pain while viewing them, so I know I am not using my optic nerve to view them.

I first began doing this while doing a technique known as squeezing the brain. Well, the part of the brain that you wanted to apply pressure to was the "Pineal Gland".  I went and studied the brain and found the exact spot of the brain that the Pineal Gland was found. I had seen a show on TV that described many monuments found around the World that looked just like the Pineal Gland. Even the Vatican had these "acorn" shaped monuments. I read how the ancients used to focus on these areas to open up their 3rd eye. I couldn't use my physical eyes for AP anymore, so I needed to find a new way if I wished to continue my practice.

At first I questioned whether my optic nerve could have just relaxed and that's why the pain was gone. But then I began cycling between the two screens and saw that I definitely still experienced the pain while viewing through my closed eyes. The strange part comes when I can view them both at the same time and keep awareness on my physical body at the same time.

Your definition of putting yourself in the "mental zone and ignoring the screen behind your eyes" seems to be the same as what I have to do. You can use that "mental zone" or you can just simply focus on the "feeling" of points outside of the body. Both techniques negate the use of using the physical eyes.  You don't need an "instructor". All you need to do is experiment yourself and find what "feels" right to you. You will know it once you find it. I enjoy experimenting. I try many different ways to achieve the same purpose. I like to share them here on the Astral Pulse for people that are looking for something that might feel right for them. I want them to use them as a guide, but to alter them into a "formula" that works for them on a personal level.

I perused through that book a bit last night and found some good material. Although they are too much on the "religion/spiritual" aspect for me, that normally comes with the territory and their cultural beliefs.

Sure

It is my belief now that most topics take about 2-3 hours to really begin to explore in a non-trivial fashion. Modern media and the internet has definitely lowered attention spans dramatically, and long-form discussions like this are sort of the pendulum swinging into the other direction. I really enjoy when I can explore a topic in moderate depth like that over that extended period. Rogan himself is also one of the best interviewers around to me for a number of reasons: he is a self-actualized person who is happy with himself and what he does, and is not seeking validation; he is greatly open to many points of view, and exploring ideas alien to him, while at the same time being quick to point out when something is clearly a lie, or unsupported by evidence; finally, he is not catering to a sponsored agenda directed by some corporate entity, but rather his own drive to explore new ideas.

You can tell I dig both people in that particular interview, which is another reason I really enjoyed that discussion.
...and they drink beer while doing it, lol.  :-D Joe creates a very comfortable atmosphere for his guests and shows that he sincerely appreciates what they stand for.

I have never had any problem listening to a 2 or even 4 hour interview. Coast to Coast, Art Bell, The Paracast, Darkness Radio, all of those shows go for 4 hours. Coast to Coast usually splits it up to 2 two hour segments though. Joe normally does 2 hour segments on his shows, but he doesn't focus entirely on the Paranormal as the other shows do. ...and yes the "commercial free" aspect of Joe's show is definitely welcomed! He is my favorite though. As long as the topic of discussion from any venue is interesting, I listen to the whole thing. I especially enjoy the "caller" segments of those shows as well.

Thank You for that link Stillwater!  :-) I thoroughly enjoyed that interview.

Wim certainly drives the phrase I use so much here home "Change your mindset, change your reality"!

...and for all those people that have a hard time understanding why bad things happen in our lives, if it wasn't for Wim's wife having had depression and committing Suicide, there is a very good chance that he wouldn't have discovered what he did. It was and still is the driving force behind his work.

Joe Rogan always has great Guests on his shows!

 Hello Velfort and Welcome!

It sounds to me like you are doing fine. Just keep doing what you are doing. The vibrations are a "signpost" of an approaching shift in consciousness. They show you that you are on the right track. Passively observe them and stay the course.

The Stickies in this Forum are loaded with great methods/techniques. Take a look and find one that "feels" right to you. Then hone it until you have found your own blueprint for success.

I put the question out there, are the visuals we see the result of the regular optic signal, the 3rd eye or the minds eye, is there a difference?
Through the years I have questioned this as well. Was it the regular optic signal or the 3rd eye, also known as the mind's eye? Not until I came down with the illness of Trigeminal Neuralgia was I able to answer this question for myself.

With my TN for a time last year I lost my ability to focus as of noticing. Actually my TN symptoms were the worst while my eyes were shut. The left facial nerves were affected by my TN, especially my left eye. The spasms got quite violent. But after taking Gabopentin for 3 or 4 months, they began to calm down.

This forced me into finding a new way to continue with my AP practice. This also taught me the Art of Tibetan Dream Yoga. Many nights I stayed aware right into my Dreaming stages. Last night I went to bed, but didn't conk out/lose conscious awareness for at least 3-4 hours. But you can do that without being tired the following day because your body is still resting and regenerating the whole time. Last night I also became aware of a full OBE about to occur. Many times this actually leads to my OBEs now. I have had more actual separations from my body in the last year then I have at any other time in my life.

Ok, back to what I learned. I would close my eyes and then the spasms would occur. At first I tried to visualize, but found that that made the spasms worse. Then I began focusing on energy points outside of my body, known as the Vehram technique. I didn't try to see them, but just had the feeling of each. After awhile images occurred. But these images seemed to come from something other than my optic field. I knew this because I began cycling between looking through my closed eyes, which hurt and looking through my 3rd eye, upper eye, mind's eye which didn't cause any discomfort.

I got so good with this over the last year that I could produce 2 screens at the same time. Even though TN is a nuisance and I have to wear special glasses all the time to counter it's effects and take pills to calm it, I still see it as a blessing in disguise. It has taught me so much!

Edit: For anyone who is not familiar with Wim Hof or his "method", here are a couple of links to his bio and that info. He is quite an extraordinary individual!  :-o

Last night/this morning I became aware just before a oncoming spontaneous OBE separation. I paid particular attention to the entire process this time, actually slowing it down at times.

First came the ultra awareness and I knew that something was occurring. Next came the Astral wind/high pitch frequency and inner vibrations. But at this time, they were both occurring in flows or pulses should I say. A full OBE did not occur until both the sounds and vibrations became a consonant or continuous harmony. They were no longer coming in waves. Now they were continuous. Full separation occurred immediately following this.

There's been a number of experiences that have supplied 'information' that I've not been permitted to recall, or that's how I interpreted it. You're left only with a knowledge of knowing that I understood it and no more. That's irritating and a half.
That defines what I call my "download/upload" experiences. There is a transfer of information, but it's only being understood at a higher conscious level. In the morning I vaguely remember the "symbols", but not enough to recall the entire script per say. I definitely know when the episode occurs though. That much I can recall. It feels like a incredible surge of energy is firing into my head when it happens.
...and yes not being able to understand it on this current "mental" level is "irritating and half"!

I'm just curios over this thought but would it be possible to trick myself into a AP by sort of mentally feeling as though I am feeling symptoms that normally lead to astral projections (if that makes sense), for example some people recall that they feel as though they are floating and so I could try feeling as though I was floating thus this would make it easier to get into an AP   :? :? :? :?
Imagining a floating feather, falling leaf, a balloon rising, plane increasing altitude, etc. ... all of these have one thing in common and that's that your focus is on them instead of your physical body. Which is what conscious AP entails.

So yes, if that works for you the better!

 Hello theduke and Welcome!

What you are experiencing is what's known as a "signpost". They are things that may occur during a non physical shift in focus and it's hard to believe right now but these are perfectly natural to projection.

Take a look at this thread and you will see what I mean: http://www.astralpulse.com/forums/welcome_to_out_of_body_experiences/exit_symptomssignposts-t46206.0.html

There are a ton of great threads and posts to read here on the Astral Pulse Forums. I would start out with the Stickies in any of the Sub forums here.

The same could be said when you are just lying down contemplating things like let's say making a new thread or answering another question posted by another member here or it could be an important revelation you have come to. You have the answer, it sounds great in your mind. You walk out to your computer to type it and it's gone, lol, or you go to write down whatever the "revelation" was and it's gone. You have drawn a blank. I just blame it on my age though!  :-D

The same can be said with Dream recall though. You awaken in the morning just after having an incredible Dream adventure. You are thinking about it and it's meaning. You go to pull out the Dream journal and you draw a blank. That entire adventure or message of that adventure is all of a sudden gone.
