Experimental, that is quite fun!

What I find most exciting is flying with someone by my side, or teaching somebody how to fly.

The latest experience I had with that theme was early this month. I was flying over a beautiful farm, and a kid was joyfully watching me as I passed. He asked if I could teach me how to do that. I agreed, and told him to run so that we could get enough propulsion, I would come flying from behind and grab him by his hand to take off. And so we did it, I also told him to help me with the flight, to control his balance. It went fine. But sometimes it's hard to rise with extra weight.

Yeah I agree it's excellent!

Thing is these dreams or experiences seem random with me - I v tried and tried to slip into a flying dream deliberately - just does not happen that way with me, it's always on the random chance.  Theirs been a few flying dreams I v had and I think the more you get the conscious intervention or the realisation or maybe the lucidity in these states  , the more you become aware how to control it , and as ya say  its fun when you find yourself flying in a dream  and suddenly assist others  to do it lol  .

Like with me it seems natural to fly when I m having one of these dreams - its like I v taught myself in the dream how to maintain the flight awareness , at first  I had to realise that  I had to concentrate on maintaining it because as soon as my attention  was taken away from  flying in the dream I would start to  descend , which in turn made me strengthen the fact  as long as I remained focused upon it I would always be able to do it lol - and  these days when I get a flying dream  its like natural to be able to fly in the dream .

I think that type of philosophy would apply with alot in a dream - the more you can control your mind to do what you desire and focus your attention on that, the stronger and more stable that desire will be to maintain it.

It's like the imagination is very powerful in dream states - and you're the one controlling what you will perceive - so for example if I think I can float straight through a wall while having abit conscious intervention in the dream then I will be able to do that. I think it's down to your own personal law of what can be done and what cannot be done to what can happen while lucid.

Yesterday night I had 2 lucid flying lucid dreams.

When I was a child I was already doing flying but I was not experimented like today.  It was a long time that I didnt do LD and it was very fun.

Before starting my story could someone tell me if everyoby that does LFD are always outdoor near his house?

Because im always there .

So I was outdoor beside my house entering a ramdom dreams. So I began been lucid because that was a long time that I didnt and I read about it a little. I started to think about flying and after I jumped into the air to start. I was in a Matrix Style position head first ... But that was weird because everytime I was head first it was more fast but drew me to the ground and in a bird style I was getting higher but with less speed. So i alternate the two positions and that was a great feeling. I was in the road but I was not seeing car

Im not an expert of flying dreams about doing loops and things but im good...

After that I awake and return to sleep... I was already doing another flying dreams but this was the same!

i had a lucid dream about a month ago where i flew....it started where i was at work and looked at the clock on my desk but couldnt really read it right. a passage from waking life (the movie) clicked in my head and i did what i do that always triggers the lucidity. i tried turning a light off. when it didnt turn off i realized i was dreaming and started running through the store just because i could. i jumped over a table but i never landed and thats when i started flying. i just kept running but in mid air. it was such an awesome feeling. its the first time ive ever flown while in a lucid dream. such an incredible experience. it was so vivid. anyway thats my flying story.

Its like you can't stop thinking about flying when your in lucid dream :0)

Nick

The Lucid Dreaming (LD) experiences will hopefully increase for everyone. Then you can try out all sorts of flying techniques.

It seems that if I purposely think about LD before sleeping, it helps me to LD sometimes.

There are only so many lucid dreams that come my way. I am lucky if I can get a couple each month so I'm happy when they occur. Last night I was lucid and did my favorite thing which is to fly. For some reason, when I fly in lucid dreams, I usually start mentally playing the music from the 1978 Superman movie. It's kind of funny, but I seem to get a kick out of it while lucid. [:D]

Anyone else have any interesting flying dream experiences?

flying in lucid dream is such an interesting one. i have been doing this so many times. how like superman, i fly wherever i think i want to.

The first thing I did when I came Lucid was to fly haha! It's so great though and it seems so real. Something else I want to try is breathing under-water. That would be fun.

No I can't say I have ever fought anything in Lucid dreams... I was too taken away by the aspects that I could fly haha  I've only had two so far and both of them only lasted a few minutes but I'm going to keep trying.

i was reading all about flying in dreams for a few days, and since i had never really done it , i kept saying to myself ...flying in dreams, whats the big deal?  well i got my answer last nite when i had a dream that i could fly (sorry not a lucid dream) and it was awesome!  all i had to do was jump and say "up" then off i went....i couldnt fly for very long i had to land back on the ground and bounce back up, until i got the hang of it and then i could stay in the air longer ....i must say it was very fun

My most recentl semi-flying dream was when me and I friend were practicing flight. We kept levitating up into a huge tree near the friend's house, then jumping out. We were unable to really fly though, we both just kept gliding back to the ground. It was a pleasant dream, and we were not upset -- we both somehow knew we just had to keep practicing. It was a pretty dream.

For me, flying dreams are nearly always happy. Maybe the ability to fly has something to do with whether you are in a good mood when you go to sleep???

Someone asked if flying dreams are always near my house. Mine are not. In fact, my most memorable one had me soaring and diving over what looked like English countryside, though I've never been there so can't say for sure. Now that was a nice dream!  :-)

Just had a lucid flying dream last night:

I was in some old laboratory-looking warehouse with someone as we discovered an unusual substance/paste which had explosive properties and would also bounce like a super-ball when mixed with some water.  Then some wild-eyed guy, who looked like a jungle native from South America, began to attack the other person I was with...  I immediately took off out an open doorway and flew out into the sky.  I looked back to see the wild native flying straight at me, traveling at least ten times faster than I was traveling.

I saw a huge tree with many large branches nearby and headed right into the branches and placed my back to a large branch and slid down the tree - all the way to the ground, with my back still to the tree trunk.  I could feel the wild man behind the tree and tried to hold him off energetically with my hands aiming in his direction, which seemed to take a lot of energy and was barely working.

Then another wild-eyed native suddenly appeared and they were both then standing before me with many different weapons in their hands.  One of them then told me to choose a weapon for battle.  I then grabbed as many of the weapons I could at once and slammed them all into the ground as hard as I could.  Then it was as if this act caused the two of them to snap out of their wild-eyed states and they immediately became my friends.

We then began walking together back toward the warehouse as they began to explain to me how they had been harvesting the unusual paste substance.  They told me of how they would go to an old dried up lake bed where the bottom was dried out and had very deep cracks in a clay-like substance.  They said that they would get a tool of some type and reach deep down into the cracks and collect the substance in this way.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Something then woke me up from the dream, which probably would have continued on.

Many of my dreams are quite elaborate like this with many detailed unusual experiences, and many times I am flying around in different parts.  This particular dream had a lot more to it, which happened before the above experience.

Sounds like a very exciting lucid dream Covelo, thanks for sharing that.  :-)

I have often in the past enjoyed flying with Superman from the old 1950's t.v. show "The Adventures of Superman.
We would get together in my dreams and have a great time flying side by side, even having races but he'd always cheat while having a big grin on his face-lol!
In more recent times I've gone flying with the Superman character played by actor Brandon Routh in the new movie "Superman Returns".
But we had a bit of trouble trying to fly side by side together because he was just simply too fast for me to keep up with since he can fly at the speed of a sonic boom and all.
Still I had a good time with him and seemed really determined to help out with his superhero activities.
I told him that I could do pretty heavy lifting such as carrying a person and possibly something a bit heavier than that but couldn't do any of the really superhuman stuff though.

Wow, what a fantastic thread, I just spent the last couple of hours reading every single post  :-D

I have had many Flying dreams, it is only the past few years I actually started realising the connection & turning these into Lucid dreams

Like mentioned right at the start of this thread, I used to have a problem with telegraph poles, I was constantly being held back & too scare to touch the wires as I lived in the city & they always wreaked havoc with my dreams

My initial flying dreams were a result of Real life, where I used to take large steps stepping across the line / crack mark in the footpath, avoiding cracks when I was young just as a game, I started having these real clear dreams where I would do just that but would see how many cracks I could jump in one go

It always seemed so real when I was gliding across dozens of cracks which in R/L I knew was downright impossible but It never occured to me about controlling back then as I knew nothing about LD

Once I started developing a liking to getting off the ground I would have weird dreams where I was always trying to get away from someone or something, people would chase me & I would jump up into the air to get away but I would rise so slowly that these people would always catch up to me & pull me back down to which I would be scared something would happen & wake up

Then a couple of years ago after reading up on Lucid Dreams & the ability to recognise Dreams through flight I had a similar experience where I was trying to get away from a group of people, I started to lift so slowly & then thought to myself "This is ridiculous, I'm dreaming, I should be able to fly faster than this" suddenly Woosh, I took off so fast, I got so excited, everything was left behind & I think my excitement & concentration on actually controlling the flight woke me up again, ever since then though, I haven't had any restrictions when I attempt to fly in dreams & I can usually travel however fast I want

Has only happened a few times the past year with all my night shifts but when they do happen, they are great, I just wish I could maintain the dreams longer cause I am still having problems of when taking control I appear to be close to awakening & often wake up within a few minutes :(

I've thoroughly enjoyed this thread, thanks everyone for sharing your experiences :)

Thanks for sharing your experiences with us Aaron -  :-)  - The waking up when taking control related problems you mentioned happen to me too.

Blackstream

Rereading this thread, I felt a bit nostoglic reading some of my posts from about 3 years ago in this thread (and a trace of a ToS breaking argument I had someone someone that didn't get deleted), so I thought I'd pop in with a few more of my experiences dreaming.

Normally when I fly, there's no resistance at all.  I just go in the direction I want and that's that.  Although, once while in the middle of a lucid dream, I found it really hard to fly down, I have no idea why.  I had to 'turn off' my fight and let myself fall to go down.

But anyways, in one dream I had a few years ago, I was flying with my arms outstretched like a bird again.  Except I wasn't flapping my arms.  Anyways, I decided to try and propel myself with wind.  All the sudden, I'm feeling this strong but soft wind pushing me from underneath propelling me into the air, much like birds do.  It was a pretty fun experience.

The other weird part about flying is that often times, when I'm having trouble controlling my dreams, it's while I'm flying.  I'll get 'stuck' flying in a loop, unable to break out, or like mentioned earlier, be unable to fly down or something.

But when all else fails, and I'm having problems flying, I can always super jump.  Super Jumping has never let me down for some reason.  Probably because my brain knows how jumping works in real life and so it's easier to extrapolate how it'd work if I had a little more 'oomph' in my jump.
There is no spoon

MW

My first proper astral experience I jumped and managed to hover with my face about 2 inches from the ground lol

The longest one I managed to do was flying by a over a lake on a sunny day, it was beautiful.

AmbientSound

I can do ANYTHING in a lucid dream- I can change the weather, fly, walk (or fly) through walls, shape-shift, listen to whatever music I want (like my brain is the entire collection of music I have ever heard in my life), you name it, I can do it. I can even give myself wonderful surprises. All I have to do is remember the feeling of what it's like to have a really awesome day, open a door, and something will create itself that will produce exactly that feeling.

-->PhenomenoN<--

Man i haven't been in here in such a long time. Life's still gots a grasp on me - a choke hold : ) trying to figure out what it's all about... I know what it's all about but it's one thing to know and another thing to live it...

Anyways.. about flying in dreams (what a fun subject). I haven't had any for a while but i remember some cool experiences.

I remember flying around my house through walls, as fast as I could.  I remember flying underground, going to hell, then getting scared and getting the helloutta there lol. I tried flying to heaven but couldn't make it..I don't think i was mature consiousnessly enough to expiernce it. I've also flown around different dimensions or planes of consiounsess?? with different people/spirits having races. Some times i would kick butt and other times they would blow me away like nothing..made me feel insecure and weak  lol.
Sometimes flying is such a breeze..no effort at all. but sometimes it's so hard to take off..i try climbing on the air? but gravity just gets a hold on me (probably more my state of mind) or i'll stay airborne for a few seconds and then come back down like  my engine cut off : ) so I try jumping as high as i can and sometimes I can start flying but usually i'll just come down.  Either way flying dreams are such a blast.  Its fun to reminise about them

AsparagusBerry

I frequently have flying dreams, only instead of flying, its more like jumping, or bouncing really high with a very low gravitational pull...I always end up landing back on the ground...The only time I have actually flown in a dream was during my one and only actual lucid dream.
