Welcome to Dreams! / Conditions for having a dream?
January 10, 2006, 05:24:30
Unfortunately there is no magic formula.  No one can say...do this, then this, and this and you'll remember all your dreams.  It is all just a matter of your awareness.  Since every ones brain works differently, every ones awareness is different.

The difference between being at home and being some where else when dream is also a difference of awareness.  When you are at home you typically more relaxed and comfortable.   Most people of the most comfortable at home in their own bed.  So they tend to sleep deeper and are less conscious of their surroundings because it's home.
When you are some place else and trying to get some sleep you are much more aware of your surroundings simply because its not your home, your safe zone.  Even though you are at a friends house, even if you have stayed there several times, it's still not your home, and your bed.  Most people get this.  The only time some one really doesn't is if they are the type that moves around a lot.  People who travel a lot, especially for work, usually don't have the same problem.

I don't think that it is so much the dream content but just your general awareness while dreaming.  You could work on just trying to get your awareness up a little more during dreams, that would help with them being lucid.  One of the easiest things to help with that is looking at your hands or doing a reality check.  The idea behind it is to do a reality check a couple of times during the day by simply looking down at your hands.  I will usually look at them and flip them over once or twice.  Now you do this while you are awake.  When you get use to doing this a couple of times a day it will start to transfer over into your dreams.  When you do this while dreaming things have a tendency to change, or other odd things happen.  The reality check in dreams serves a means to get your brain thinking of your surroundings.

Knowledge of the future changes that future.  I dream of the future all the time.  And I have lots of weird, crazy dreams.  But that's years of horror flicks and video games.  But being aware or lucid during a dream has nothing to do with content of the dream.  You could be doing any thing, any time, any where and be fully aware and lucid, or not.  It is entirely up to you.

But right off I would get out of this mind set..."but my dreams are always projections of the future and thus its almost impossible to realize I'm dreaming"   Think positively......They are your dreams after all....Shouldn't you be able to do what ever you want with them?

Welcome to Astral Chat! / Needs more active members

I don't think that it is so much that the long term members aren't posting, they just aren't posting a lot.  It is just kinda pointless to leave a one line post saying, "Oh yeah I have had that too."  If you don't participate anymore in the conversation.   And that is not good for an only response.  Plus the people that have been around here longer are a little more picky about the topics they wish to comment on.  That and we do often see the same topics repeat all the time.  I know for a while there we were kinda getting hard on new people who would show ask the classic "How do I OBE" type questions.  One of the mods was pretty much pick up all those and suggesting how to use the search function.

As far as responding right away, I often don't respond to a post the first time I read it.  I like to think a little about what I am going to say.  This way it can hopefully make more sense when I do type it out because I have put some thought into it and it's not all off the top of my head.

No they communicate...They said things to me and to each other.

I will admit that just because some one is a witch it does not make them "bad/evil".  I have known a handful of "good witches" in my time.  I know a great many pagans. Especially Wiccans.....got a nose for'em.  But I use the term witch here merely for description....Women with magic and or super natural abilities.  Don't get the idea that they were running around in the classic black dresses and point hats with long, wiggly, moley noses.  Two of them were wearing earthy type clothing while one of them was wearing more modern clothing.  And there was one older one, but could not be described as previously mentioned, and the other two were more middle aged, like in their 40/50's.

The old one was the more difficult one to deal with.

Welcome to Dreams! / 2 dreams at the same time?
January 08, 2006, 02:02:59
As close as I can get was dreaming about laying down and having a dream.  Was it kinda like that?  Or was it 2 dreams with totally different subjects?
#206
Seeing as I have seen them before and the way that the previous experience went I do not think that they represent any kind of fear.  When they first showed up it was like..."There's my door, that's were the AC should be, oh and look..a couple of witches around a cauldron....I'm going back to sleep."  So I kinda had that okay whatever attitude.  Even during this experience I was not afraid.  I think I was more annoyed and frustrated than anything.  That was mostly because things were so difficult.  I was frustrated with myself not the situation or the witches.

Okay this was a very interesting experience, and the only reason I am posting it here in stead of the Dream Forum is because of how it started.

So I go to bed this morning at about 8am.  I am a night person....work all night, sleep all day.  So around 130pm I woke up, not really having a full night sleep but unable to get back to sleep.  I watched movies for a while. The rest of Independence Day, the American President, followed by the rest of Dragon: The Bruce Lee Story.  So now it's about 7pm.  So I figured I would sleep a little more before going to work, that would give 3 more hours of sleep.

So after a quick 10min nap I wake up again, but I stayed in bed.  After that when I closed my eyes again I could see right through them.  It was really interesting.  So I laid there for like half an hour playing with this.  I would open my eyes, close them, look around the room a little, then open my eyes to confirm what I was looking at.  I must have done it a dozen times or so.  I found the color change from normal sight to looking through the lids pretty interesting.  See the VCR and Monitor were still on so the room was kinda blue in normal reality because there was no longer a tape in.  But every time I closed my eyes the room would look Gray and a few times with a little concentration it would begin to look like normal light.  So I played like this for a while and then I just fell asleep.  No warning or any thing.  I remember opening my eyes the last time, then closing them and expecting to be able to look around some more.  But no, there was nothing.

So then I find myself dreaming......I think.  Call it what you will but I view most of this stuff as dreams or lucid dreams.  Well this one was lucid.  I was in a place that was my house but not my house.  I am sure every one knows that one.  Next thing I know these 3 witches show up.  I think they were the same ones that I posted about a couple of years ago that were on the other side of the door that went outside and I was viewing them through the hole that my AC unit should have been in.

So they start chasing me around the place, and I'm running and running.  Then I think to myself why am I running from them, it being my house and all.  SO stop running and a fight ensues after that.  The problem with this part is that I felt really weak.  I could not do half of the things that I could normally do in this kinda of dream situation.  I kept trying to get up off the ground but I could only get about 5 feet off the ground and I would stop.  Then one of them would grab me and pull me back down.  I also had problems moving my arms around and such.  I could run okay but my arms did not want to do much.

After a little bit of this I was kinda getting sick of the whole situation and as soon as I made up my mind about that I got like really super strong both mentally and physically.  2 of them vanished almost instantly but the third was being a pain.  She kept trying to get other things to attack me.  Like she animated this doll that was sitting on the love seat, and it was one of those creepy life like dolls too, a little girl in a dress.  As soon as it started to move I looked over at it said "NO" and it basically just rolled back over and stopped moving.  Then I focused every thing I had on the last witch, I did the same thing to her.  I looked at her very intently and told her "NO" also.  She resisted considerably.  I ended up going right up to her grabbing her by the shoulders and telling her "NO" again like you would a child.  After that she kinda faded away and I found myself holding the microwave.  Not sure why?!?!  I thought that was kinda strange.

After that I woke up, for good this time because I had to go to work.  But I felt very tired.  It was difficult to get up and get moving.  Even after I got to work I just wanted to relax for a while.  I was like I had been working out all day long, or just played football or some thing.  It was that kind of tired.

Anyway.........I'm done now.

Welcome to Dreams! / First time for me...
January 03, 2006, 04:50:26
First off...I agree, the clothing you are wearing can give you many hints as to where you are and what you are doing.

And yes, I have done the whole language thing too.  It's pretty messed up when you know what you are saying with out actually knowing the words you are using.  Of course I have been accused of that when I am awake some times too.

It was interesting when I was going to hypnotherapy I kinda had the opposite.  I knew exactly what I wanted to say and words I wanted to use but it was like I did not know how to speak the words.  So it ended up that there was very little verbal communication between me and the person who hypnotized me.

Well I don't know much about Mac's so I will skip that part.

However.....Since you have the Ipod I would suggest looking around on the Internet, and I think they even have a few posted here, for the raw MP3 files instead in the meantime and using the Ipod with those.  That should work pretty good.  Granted you won't be able to make any changes to them like you can with BWG but its a start.

Welcome to the Forums.

Welcome to Dreams! / Forgetful revelation
January 02, 2006, 01:36:41
One of the great things about dreaming is that you don't have to remember them for you to get anything out of it.  So even though you can not fully remember what happened in the dream or what was said, the information is in there and is being processed.

So when I get dreams like that I just let it happen, think about the dream in general afterwards, and it tends to help.

The first one is just a clever trick.  It always picks the hand...or at least it did for me.  Ever answer that is possible from doing it equates to the hand symbol.

The second one is most likely a clever trick also.  But how he does it I don't know.

I haven't been up to much.  Life in general had gotten a good hold of me. I kinda got burnt out and I am just now starting to get back into the swing of things.  So we will see what the future holds.

I had a really cool Lucid Dream/Astral Projection experience the other day.  I had decided to lay down for a little bit before going to work.  I remember rolling over and looking at the clock just before it happened.  It was 930 something.  Then my eyes closed and I was at work.  At very first it seemed natural, like I had gone to work for the night.  I looked out the back door of the Plant and noticed a excrement tone of light and went to go check it out.  When I stepped outside and it was day time all though I knew it was 930 at night.  But that was not the trigger.  The other thing wrong was that the Cooling Towers were missing.  Now Towers, no Pumps, and no Piping.  At first I freaked and was going to run back inside to call my supervisor to tell him.  I took two steps and stopped because I started putting things together.

First thing the equipment could not just vanish like that.  Then I figured it being light outside when I knew it was night time meant that I was dreaming.  Then I knew I was also still at home and could feel myself laying in bed.  So I stood there for a second thinking about all of this.  Then I very calmly looked down at the ground, and brought my hands around so I could see them.  From there I started raising my arms up and out to my sides and as I did I started floating up off the ground.  It was a truly awesome feeling.

Then I started to get excited, and the more I did the faster and more uncontrolled was my flight.  I got to just above the Hospital when it ended and my eyes opened up.  The very first thing I did was look at the clock.....934pm.  I was amazed because Real time and the time in this experience seemed to move at about the same rate.  The experience seemed to be about 2 or 3 minutes long and I know that no more than 4 minutes could have passed in Real time.

This whole experience has got me very excited that I might be starting to exercise even more control in my dreams.  I have never fully stepped out of character in a dream like that before.  The flying around I have done in dreams before but that was part of the role I was playing in the dream.  Even though I am aware in most dreams that I have I am usually bound by the role I am playing in that dream and what ever it I can not do more that what that character can do.  This time I was just me at work and being me in normal life means that I can not fly.  So this time the change in what I was doing and what I was able to do was a much bigger step.

Hopefully these kinds of experiences continue.  They always do make me feel pretty good and are a great way to start off the day.

Welcome to Dreams! / Lucid Dreams
March 14, 2005, 23:57:44
Every dream that you have has the potential to go lucid.  It all really depends on the individual and their level of awareness while dreaming and their willingness, either conscious of it or not, to have several lucid dreams in one night.

A side note on vegetarians.

I always found the logic of not killing anything, even for food, kinda funny.  If your vegetarian because you just don't like meat that's fine with me.  But what really bothers me are the "spiritualists" who tell you they don't eat me because it's killing and killing is wrong.  These tend to be the same people who then turn around and tell you that every thing on the planet is alive and there for should not be harmed, to include plants and such.  So with their logic it is not okay to kill but it is okay to continually maime a plant.  Basically stealing its potential offspring consuming them for your own needs.  Whats the difference is what I ask.

And on a very special note I would like to announce that I have had a hand in converting to date, 3 strict vegetarians into carnivores.  Yeah!
2 were raised vegetarians and one apparently never had previously had a properly prepared steak.

I am not anything.  I practice no religion at all.

I was baptized Roman Catholic by my parents but I haven't been to church since I was 16.  And before that it was only for midnight mass because of my mother.

But that faith never made any sense to me at all and I never really believed in it.  So now I walk my own path.

Greatoutdoors.

QuoteCainam_Nazier, so what is it about wiccans you notice? And where would you put me, if you had guess?

Speech, looks, dress, and I don't even have to talk to them able religion.

QuoteI just wish with all my being that we could lose the anger! Hatred is perhaps the most useless, destructive emotion on this earh of ours! Harm none, in thought, word or deed! (That's not necessarily wiccan, just my goal!)

Ahh, you're wiccan.

Just a guess.  But I usually have to be in the same room as the person.

This is from an article on MSN.  Just to give you the skinny.
The whole thing can be found here.

QuoteThe efforts to bring God into the state reached their peak during the so-called "religious revival" of the 1950s. It was a time when Norman Vincent Peale grafted religion onto the era's feel-good consumerism in his best-selling The Power of Positive Thinking; when Billy Graham rose to fame as a Red-baiter who warned that Americans would perish in a nuclear holocaust unless they embraced Jesus Christ; when Secretary of State John Foster Dulles believed that the United States should oppose communism not because the Soviet Union was a totalitarian regime but because its leaders were atheists.

Hand in hand with the Red Scare, to which it was inextricably linked, the new religiosity overran Washington. Politicians outbid one another to prove their piety. President Eisenhower inaugurated that Washington staple: the prayer breakfast. Congress created a prayer room in the Capitol. In 1955, with Ike's support, Congress added the words "In God We Trust" on all paper money. In 1956 it made the same four words the nation's official motto, replacing "E Pluribus Unum." Legislators introduced Constitutional amendments to state that Americans obeyed "the authority and law of Jesus Christ."

The campaign to add "under God" to the Pledge of Allegiance was part of this movement. It's unclear precisely where the idea originated, but one driving force was the Catholic fraternal society the Knights of Columbus. In the early '50s the Knights themselves adopted the God-infused pledge for use in their own meetings, and members bombarded Congress with calls for the United States to do the same. Other fraternal, religious, and veterans clubs backed the idea. In April 1953, Rep. Louis Rabaut, D-Mich., formally proposed the alteration of the pledge in a bill he introduced to Congress.

Now any American who says that the "Under God" in the pledge of allegiance is not referring to the Christian god does not know the history of their own country.

With that being said I hold fast to my previous statement.

This post probably won't be as good as the one I was working one when the power failed.

QuoteHow can I tell that an image or message I receive or pick up on from him is actually from him? I have reason to think someone might be using our bond to get to me. It goes deeper than that but I'll leave it at that. Is there a way to see if the person I'm connecting with IS who I think they are? Can someone impersonate another person?

Do you have to ask who you are talking to every time you answer the phone?

Most of the time for me I just know who I received some thing from.  Much the same as answering the phone.  That very first thought you think after is most likely correct, so you continue with "Hi Bob, how you doing?"

Although all things being in the realm of possibility I don't think it is likely that some one could impersonate another's thoughts very easily.  My opinion is that the impersonator would have to be extremely gifted.  But if you think that it might be happening then I would suggest establishing some protocol for you and your friend. I am sure that they would not mind jumping through a hoop or two to make you feel better.

Unfortunately the whole mess is based on thought and emotion and therefore is not a 100% proof positive of what is going on.

I will try to dig up some links for you, but I think I lost them all the last time I re-installed windows.

QuoteTrue, but then my post was not directed at him, but as a general comment about the US religious situation (generally speaking).

My bad.  But to continue.

I do find it kinda funny that in a land based heavily on the idea of religious freedom that there is in fact one particular idea of religion that is forced upon us at a very early age.  Anybody who says that is not is already a member of the God umbrella.  This starts with the pledge of allegiance.  "One nation, under God.."  Being outside the US probably makes this easier to see.

And I totally just forgot where else I was going to go with this...Okay, Moving on.

QuoteAnother important aspect IMO is that almost all major religions and many minor ones have such similar belief structures. Whether they call energy Chakra or Holy Spirit or Chi, they are all most likely the same thing. Whether you call it Visions or Projecting, or you see guardian angels or guides. The metaphysical correlations all seem to be very similar, although achieved by different paths, and with the intent being somewhat different.

This is some thing else that I don't really understand with people.  It seems that many believe not so much in their experience but rather the labels that they bring to it.  So unfortunately we will forever hear the arguments about god/not god, angels/guides, and which "energy" is best to use when in all likelihood there is no difference between them except the labels we put on them.  Just ask your local DBZ fanatic.

QuoteYou have no idea how many of them I run across. There is an insane wiccan population in Arizona.

Glad to hear it!

Honestly it's a little deeper than that for me.  Get a group of 100 people together I could probably separate out the wiccans.  I can almost feel when one enters the room, they don't even have to say anything.
#222
Tyciol is from Canada, eh.  Not the US.

But any how.

You make a very good point, which is why that if I was forced to pick a religion I would go for poly-theism.  More options = better chance of getting it right.

But I digress.

More often than not I will not ask a person if they believe in God but rather if they believe in a god.  Unless of course I already know what religion they are or claim to be.  Then I will ask them questions specific to their god or gods.

This developed mostly because I know far too many pagans....mostly wiccans.  You have no idea how many of them I run across.  There is an insane wiccan population in Arizona.
#223
Do you mean if some one just send you some thing? and not you linking to that person first?

Easy, well sorta, pending your level of personal space and all that.

The image, sensation, or what ever is forced in.  As in you weren't doing anything and all of a sudden a thought or image not of you own design is there.  If you seem to be a natural receiver then this is more difficult because your brain is more or less always searching for the random thoughts thrown into the air so a directed message would register the same.  But if your mind is totally closed off and a thought is forced in it can have an almost nightmarish feel to it.  Being it is there, it's not your's, and you can't turn it off and are forced to deal with the thought.  Level of severity depends on the image or thought sent.  Cute and fuzzy is easy to deal with but there is still the mild feeling of invasion.
#224
The point being that you "believe" the statement to be factual.

To put a spin on it.  Truth, fact, and law in science stand heavily on your belief, or trust, in the information presented before you.

If you do not trust or believe in the information being supplied to you, no matter it's volume or multitude of sources then you can not believe some thing to be truth, fact, or law.  And what ever it is will most likely remain that way until you have a personal, be it spiritual or physical,  experience with it.
#225
Okay I am trying to put this into the correct words so forgive me if it comes out wrong.

I have experienced several LD to OBE instances.  Each time it started with me in a dream and realizing that I am dreaming.  To make it fully understood, I could at that moment in time be experiencing a dream and not just know I was asleep but could feel my body sleeping.  This being to the point where I could think in my dream that it was time to roll over in bed.  Then do so and continue my LD.

Now when I take an LD to an OBE I usually stop ever thing I am doing in the dream.  I take a very careful look around to see if I might want to stay first before going on.  When I have decided the dream just drops out and I find myself on the 3D blackness.  From there I go on an OBE trip.

I know Mr. Bruce that the dream mind can re-create an OBE experience but to me the 3D blackness that I end up in from a LD is the same as when I have experienced my few traditional OBE's.  It could just be a matter of awareness.
