It is not decorous to maintain the same direction of thoughts after CFT bowed out of the arguement and said she was too upset to continue.

Was she wrong, was she right? That is beside the point right now. You have to know when it is time to stop. I am mostly ok with your arguments, but there is a time for everything.

This is not about me defending a leftist or a bigot, or someone who disrespected you. This is me asking you to stop when it is sensible to do so.

Then, as moderator, perhaps you could acknowledge my valid observations about her choices about the manner in which she exited.
It is NOT REASONABLE to expect me to just take that stream of falsehoods from her to and about me on the way out the door. Ohhhh, the poor thing.... "she was too upset to continue" after she rolled a few grenades into a public room and then bolted for the exits. That is so lame. I already explained this. She could have kept it private but she made it very public and very MELODRAMATIC.

Also, please keep this in perspective, I have not been replying to CFT points but to PR, Ident, Supermanny...
Just as a matter of courtesy.

Just stop hitting me with questions about the matter or making one-sided observations about the whole thing and I will stop replying. It is that simple.

What the futz is an imagined misinterpretation?

Please let it drop, Rudolph. You've made your points and I, for one, would struggle to find myself caring less whether they are true. Most of us are here to lament the loss of CTF, not run a post-mortem on her comments or final disagreement.

Hi Ident, the "imagined misinterpretation" would be the exact quote I provided indicating the insulting insinuation about, "he has even stated that people he doesn't agree with (i.e. whoever he has labeled Democrat or 'Left') 'are to be destroyed'.". (I was speaking about the Democrat Party - along with the Libertarian Party vs Republican Party two party system that would remain)... and also her misunderstanding about, "Rudolph spoke to me like a child, scolded me and then proceeded to  give figures that are not factual to where I live". [NOTHING like that happened... not even close].

I would be happy to let this drop if folks would stop bringing up points that I am inclined to reply to.

I can understand you not caring less. And I have not suggested you should care one way or the other. But you were not the one she openly attacked and insulted on the way out the door so that is understandable.
And I am replying here because you directly put a question to me.

You know... she could have have quietly exited with PM's to her friends and all could grieve similarly in PMs... but no... She was the one who made a big melodramatic show out of it.

are you serious?
this is a place for people to share opinions and beliefs.   i've been gone for a year and when i come back what do i find?  that rudolph is still involved in all the trouble.  i won't say you start things, yet somehow you're always involved.  to be honest, i don't know why moderation has let you stay here this long.

take your self-righteousness, your facts, your tyranny and really look at who you are.  you're a beautifully passionate person and i respect that, but you don't respect anyone or anything but your learned beliefs.  just don't be a jerk about it.  that's all there is too it.  show some fricken empathy sometimes.

PR, I have never given anyone grief over an opinion or a belief.

I do correct destructive lies, bigotry and hate-speech (how many times do I have to say it?)
I do often correct just plain flat out wrong claims on the order of 2+2=5 {that really is wrong - not everything is a matter of opinion} especially when the claim is made to justify stealing from me.

I respect all here way more than you and many others here respect me and my right to my differing opinion as well as my right to correct the lies of bigotry and hate speech toward my family religion, with facts. (Yes, there really is such a thing as facts -- this bogus idea about "my truth may not be your truth" was made up by people who don't like it when their deceptions and deep denial fantasies are revealed, imho :)

What sort of "fricken empathy" am I supposed to show someone who quits a Forum in a huff over an imagined insult that never happened?... and made a lying insult toward me on the way out the door?

I realize that person may have been here much longer than I have but, does that diminish her requirement to follow Forum Rules while establishing new and even more restricting ones for me? (double secret probation?).

I do understand that my modus operandi is particularly nauseating to the more naturally deceptive sorts of extreme Leftists and anti-Catholic bigots... I can live with that. But apparently many among those ranks can't live with a traditional Conservative around. They can't stand being in the same room with one. The discomfort at knowing that their regular habit of spouting certain types of disinformation might be challenged and disrupted is just too upsetting for them.

There is a big lesson for extreme Leftists and anti-Catholic bigots here. Can they learn how to be tolerant toward someone who disagrees with them politically and corrects errors of FACT now and then? Is it okay for someone to disagree and supply facts on why they disagree? Or are you the type who must blow a gasket and complain to the moderators because someone had the audacity to disagree with you?

Can you learn how to handle disagreement in mature fashion and coolly confront compelling justification for a different conclusion?

rudolph might have been stating facts or whatever, and CFT might get defensive sometimes, but to be honest rudolph has started plenty of crap around here and CFT usually just tries to help.  but whatever.  i have no idea what this about and i don't really care.  rudy, i'm not attacking, just stating some facts i've observed over the time i've known you on the pulse, so don't take offense please

Hi Personalreality and welcome back.
Just for the record, I generally do not start the "crap". It appears that way to those who are used to just letting destructive and false political rhetoric or blatant anti-Catholic lies, bigotry and hate-speech go unchallenged.
It was quite a shock for those so used to seeing such negative dialogue go unchallenged for so long to suddenly see someone actually have the guts to stand up and say, "wait a minute... that's not true". Even worse, having the the temerity to present facts to back it up! as well! - what an ingrate!

So now, someone stands up and falsely points the accusing finger at me in a very loud and personal way and makes a dark, insulting false accusation against me over an imagined misinterpretation of something I never came close to saying (which it appears most admit, so far) sprinkled liberally with more misinformation and disinformation...
and now *I* am the bad guy for standing up and defending myself against a bald faced lie?!

what the frik is going on here?!

I have heard of the following supplements for lucid dreaming:
Galantamine
Choline
5-HTP
Vitamin B6
[...]
I am curious as to how well these work.  Anyone else tried any of them?

I just picked up a bottle of 5-HTP on clearance sale at Walgreens. But Stookie's warning stuck in my head, I guess and I did a little reading on it.

People use it as a mood enhancer from the serotonin boost.

I was thinking this was not the right chemical to take before going to bed.
?

Those mood enhancer discussions were enlightening though... many of them really did report a big impact on dreaming from vivid to lucid. And they were not even the least bit interested in that part - they were just reporting "side-effects", heh.

These are 100mg pills.

Does anyone have a recommended protocol on how to use these?

(I still have not gotten choline, galantamine or Huperzine - the last two are hard to find at a local supplier)

AND, while on the subject IMO this same premise also answers All of those (seemingly numerous) threads that are titled "Was this an OBE or a Lucid Dream?". Because again, if the person was not aware that he/she was dreaming then the experience, (By definition = semantics + logic) could NOT have been a Lucid dream.
Good thread Xanth

Yeah, when I read the opening question I was thinking this is sorta like the question of the decade and more 'research' and discussion will flesh it out a little better.

But in order to adhere to logic I think we must agree to definitions and what a word means and what a particular state is and it seems we haven't gotten there yet.

Yet, I think I think I know the condition that is being spoken of here and it is a mystery to me still and I need more experience to more confidently discuss it. I have had full blown OBEs that seem to take on dreamlike characteristics yet I still know I am OBE and I remain fully conscious upon return to the body. And I have LDs that turn into OBEs without vibrations or exit symptoms, but some that do, and I have other experiences I just have no classification for....

I have had some real doosies lately and I have not even emailed my closest old Seeker pals from the Old Surat Shabd days to even try to begin to describe them... I am not sure what to think or say about them.

I am done having to consider being pounced on every time I make a remark regarding social issues, because Rudolph has no idea what respect is- to him respect is not something that he extends to people he doesn't agree with, becasue he immediately labels them and then it's open season, he has even stated that people he doesn't agree with (i.e. whoever he has labeled Democrat or 'Left') 'are to be destroyed'.  If this person is allowed to treat people with open contempt and applauded when he manages to use civility, this is not the place I want to spend time in.  It's not worth my time.
Thank you mods for what you do here most of the time, but for now, I'm gone.

This is a plain flat out FALSE ACCUSATION. I have gotten used to this from you CFT. I never said, "that people he doesn't agree with (i.e. whoever he has labeled Democrat or 'Left') 'are to be destroyed'."
I said I wanted to see the Democrat Party destroyed. There is a BIG difference there. This is a classic example of the lies and deception that I get from the Left on a continuous basis.

*That* is a huge error on your part and you owe me an apology.

CFT, I did not "pounce" on you and nothing that I said was disrespectful. (which is why you did not quote me on anything to back up these false accusations.)

You said, "The political system decided to take funding from the schools to give them to the internet learning companies. "
and I said, "The political system did not take funding from the schools. They are presently enjoying the highest level of funding in the public school system history. "

There is NOTHING Disrespectful there.
But I have noticed over the years that Leftists often interpret disagreement as disrespect and fact based refutation is taken as an insult even though it is no such thing.

This is where I got my salary estimates - note that I mentioned 4th grade and college teachers;
(all you had to do was ask)

"    The Pay Scale website reports that, as of 2010, K-12 teachers made an average of $34,672 to $57,657. Specific averages depend on what level the teacher oversees, however. Kindergarten teachers have an average salary of $50,380 based on 2009 data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS). Their salaries may range between $31,320 and $75,210. Elementary teachers earn $53,150 on average, with a salary range of $33,830 to $78,720. Middle school teachers have an average salary of $53,550 but may earn anywhere between $34,360 and $79,200. Secondary teachers make the most of K-12 teachers. They earn $55,150 per year, with a range of $34,600 to $82,000.

Post-Secondary Teachers (Professors)

The BLS lists data for post-secondary teacher salaries from a 2008 to 2009, according to a survey conducted by the American Association of University Professors. The survey shows that university instructors make $45,977, lecturers earn $52,436, assistant professors have an average wage of $63,827, and associate professors earn $76,147. Regular full-time professors earn $108,749 on average. The average for all full-time professors is $79,439. Those in private independent institutions make more than those in public or religiously-affiliated universities, as do those who work at 4-year facilities instead of 2-year facilities.

And apparently the claim that Florida is on a voucher system right now is a little misleading;

"Expanded school voucher plan advances in Florida Senate
Education savings account proposal gets favorable vote"
http://articles.orlandosentinel.com/2011-04-14/features/os-vouchers-school-savings-accounts-20110414_1_education-savings-voucher-program-separate-private-systems

So only a very small and limited test program is underway and expansions of the voucher idea is still in the house and Senate in debates to come up with something that will pass the State Court System in Florida;

"The Florida Supreme Court struck down a statewide voucher system Thursday that allowed children to attend private schools at taxpayer expense — a program Gov. Jeb Bush considered one of his proudest achievements.

Source: redOrbit (http://s.tt/16rfi)

The entire Dept of Education must be abolished, all schools privatized and FULL VOUCHER implementation must replace that present disaster of a system. I say the problems will then begin resolving themselves quickly in natural fashion. The present half-ashed approach is a joke destined to fail.

I've heard that you are never supposed to meditate at night, something about it deals with the nature of concentration and how night time meditation effects our internal state differently.  Could be that if we are concentrating the nighttime environment into our auras and into our minds, then it gives us less light to work with, is that true?
[...]
What makes me mad most of the time is the outright faithlessness of people towards God.

Some Schools teach that meditating in the middle of the night is mandatory. My experience is that there are huge benefits to practicing then and I highly recommend it.

Getting mad the way you describe is a stage many True Seekers go through. Just make sure you GROW through it and as quickly as possible. Many Seekers invite huge troubles into their lives by getting angry at God. This is a big mistake. But an easy one to make. I think about how senseless so much of life is. Take the example of a female born in North Africa. Fighting disease and starvation all her life until she turns 11 when her genitals are ritually mutilated and then a year later she is gang raped by roving warlords ... and it continues like this for a few decades and then she dies. ...
What gives?

I just work on my Consciousness with the intent to have a conscious hand in choosing my next life wisely where I encounter genuine Teachers and make real Spiritual Progress. (As opposed to a random injection into some hopelessly confused scenario where I am duped into practicing some false path that just ends up with me spinning my Awareness wheels and getting no where).

Good Luck with your Path.

As for how the Catholic Church treated them, and what precisely happened during that time... who really knows. There is so much motivation to shape how the world views their behavior on both sides of the issue that there is no way to separate the lies from the history. As you say, a couple examples of Mayan literature were preserved by the Church... who knows what that means.

Actually, as for how the Catholic Church treated them, we really do know quite a lot. If there is one thing the Vatican was *very* good at it was keeping meticulous written records.

The Conquistador Officers were also required to keep detailed journals. And then there were opportunistic merchant class types who wrote letters, contracts, shipping logs, etc. in standard business style.

We have a LOT of very good reason to think we know *pretty much* what happened if not *precisely* what happened (what an odd word to use for evaluating historical record...?...).

We know that the none of these separate groups trusted the other and each offered widely varying opinions and points of view on what was happening at the time. One Padre Francisco Dumshitsco (I forget his real name) returned after a two year trip to Spain and upon return to Tenochtitlan was shocked to discover hundreds of thousands of natives had died in the interim and he blamed it all on the murderous Conquistadors even though the surviving natives clearly explained the smallpox symptoms to him. And even though there were only about 120 Conquistadors armed with simple muskets and even if they had managed to kill a couple thousand natives every day and spent all night digging the musket balls out and reusing them again the next day and even if there were enough gunpowder to keep reloading like that all day long every day for two years...
Well... his story made no sense at all but he still made the allegation and sent it back to Rome asking that all the Conquistadors be charged with mass murder. And even to this day moronic historians quote his absurd allegations as though they were true.

See, the problem is not so much that history is written by the victors but that, far more often, history is taught by idiots.

A paragraph in Adrian's book,  "The Truth About 2012" caught my eye.

When the Spanish invaded, the Roman Catholic Church ordered that all of these codices, which the church held to be the "work of the devil", be placed in piles and burned before the Mayan people as an example, when they were forced to submit to the Roman Catholic Church.

a. I do not think the Church ordered that all of the codices be burned (otherwise the ones we still have would not exist).
{The author also failed to mention the "Codex Yoalli Ehecatl" preserved in the Vatican Library}

One Bishop Landa is known to have burned 40 codices describing diabolical practices, while no other reports on any significant scale are recorded on this burning of codices being some sort of pervasive practice. Bishop Landa was bent on destroying these books when he came upon a ritual where a young boy was about to be sacrificed. (Even today, recorded ~c1965,  Mayan elders will toss a young boy off a cliff to appease the gods when there is a sizable earthquake).

b. "the work of the devil" referred to the routine ritual sacrifice of thousands of men from sunup to sundown on High Holy Days. (The burning of some codices began shortly after the Conquistadors witnessed the horrendous slaughter of countless human sacrifice victims and the soldiers were intent upon eliminating anything that ordered or instructed anyone in such demonic behavior. This opinion was not merely something which the church held to be the "work of the devil").

c. The Mayan people were not forced to submit to the Roman Catholic Church.

Their society was in headlong decline and what we know as 'ancient Maya' were nearly extinct when the Spaniards arrived.
The native people of the Americas were NOT some brilliant, advanced culture. They were barely developed beyond the Stone Age. They basically had no domesticated animals. They had no real agriculture beyond pushing a sharp stick in the ground and dropping a seed in. That may be because the plow had not been invented because they had no metallurgy (gold was not mined but simply picked up off the ground near certain creeks and rivers and then melted down by dropping it into a really hot fire. Silver and iron can be smelted at similar temperatures but no European observers ever saw this happening. Archeological digs show that "maybe" some sort of smelting was going on around 2000 BC but that art was completely lost over time. Their knowledge of chemistry was nearly zero. They never even figured out how to attach a sail to their canoes.

When will people stop pretending that these were advanced cultures?

This reminds me of accounts (I think it was Monroe) of encounters with a light being that 'turned its frequency down' or cloaked himself in order to protect him.  So, I wouldn't say one way or the other, but my guess would be, maybe.

I remember some scenario very similar to this also.

The Guide informed him that he was "leaking" and he tightened up his aura and sealed his emanations a bit.

I believe it is taught in some Schools that most humans are leaking badly most all the time yet can reduce it substantially with discipline, but that drug and alcohol abuse makes it nearly impossible to seal off in a significant way.

It is very unlikely the average music listener will have the equipment to listen/feel Binaural beats properly if what I am assuming makes binaural beats effective is correct. The only way I could see these beats working is if I have got the idea of frequency wrong and the binaural frequency refers to the the level of pulse between sounds which in the music industry should be referred to as LFO (Low frequency oscillation). Producers use frequency to measure oscillation as well as the pitch of a sound.

Don't get me wrong, I like binaural beats. I listen to them myself as i like a monogamous sound to take away any disturbing background sounds whilst meditating (whether they work or not  :-D) but I have expensive industry standard active monitors due to my work. I suggest anyone taking these beats seriously, to invest in some nice headphones that have a frequency range/response of 5hz - 20000hz +-2db (higher the db the worse).

The question in my mind comes when people report 3.94hz beat frequency.
Really?
You have speakers and players that can resolve better than 0.01 hz?

That is pretty darn good equipment there. Since a typical carrier tone is about 200hz, I think 204hz in one ear will resolve fine for most equipment. Even with 0.1-0.5hz wobble and drift the listener is still going to move into deep theta.  I know the Monroe Institute CD's that I got definitely work in terms of getting a response in my brain since it is not all difficult to feel. (This is on a Walkman Cd player -- I have not verified on an ipod yet).
As long as the carrier frequency is not too low (anything over 50hz should be fine) most off the shelf listening equipment should do alright. Background noise will not interfere with the binaural effect but can be annoying in other ways.

And just an update: Last night I upped it from 15mg to 20mg.

A couple nights ago I tried upping the regular 3mg to a 9mg dose around 10pm and really did not notice much difference.
Then I tried something last night.
Just a small dose B6 at bedtime, with 2 hrs meditation then a 3mg melatonin about 12:30am then another 3mg at 5am, go back to sleep for a couple more hours....

Definitely enhanced dreaming clarity and recall.

Huperzine!? I had never heard of that one so I did a search and found lots but this one looks good;

Ancillary Drugs

Three drugs, in my experience, also seems to assist with induction: huperzine-A (200-400 mcg), melatonin (3 mg), and nicotine (standard patch). I don't suggest combining them.

I've been taking melatonin pills every day for the past couple of months. I usually take 5mg per night but there isn't a noticeable difference in my dreams, just my sleep. For the past week or so I've upped my dosage from 5mg to 10mg and onto 15mg.

Excellent detail there. Thanks.

I just checked my melatonin bottle and it is a 3mg pill. I take it about two or three nights per week. But I will often go a couple weeks with no dosage at all.

When I was around 30 years old both my brother and I tried it and we noticed no difference in our dreams or sleep.

When I turned 50 my brother told me to try the melatonin again. I mentioned our previous experience and he smiled and just said, "oh... I think you'll notice a difference this time". I tried it again and I noticed more vivid dream activity. Melatonin production diminishes with age so this was why he brought it up again. He is a bit of a supplement nut and tries every new thing he reads in those health magazines. I will go along for the ride when he pushes me a little.

Pirate, based on your input here I am going to try double and triple dosages and note the effects.

Vitamin B6 is easily available and very inexpensive so I take that sometimes too. I wanted to try Choline but Vitamin World was out when I stopped in to shop. Galantamine was not available. I also heard that caused nightmares too, but maybe it is just the combination of all of the above.

So Szaxx, do you think it is your "belief" that nuking the surface of the planet is a good solution and is it your "intent" to implement that? Or do you think maybe dreams have nothing to do belief or intent but more to do with images, symbols and the message that the subconscious is pushing to the surface.
Like maybe you have been fighting a losing battle with some project or aspect of waking life and perhaps the message is to just clear the decks and start fresh in that particular arena?

Does anyone have any thoughts about this. Or any knowledge on if 3am has the same negative connections with projection that it does with the rest of the spirit world? [....] All thoughts are appreciated!

The Eastern Schools teach that the nightly re-balancing starts at the Crown chakra and moves downward, reaching the Heart center around 3am and the lower centers around 5am (thus explaining an early morning phenomenon familiar to most young men).

The Higher centers are more dormant for many so little recall of notable activity is registered.

If the 3am heart center activity is of the negative variety it is due to negative daily preoccupation of the negative sort and it will manifest in such a manner. If positive energy is channeled into and through the heart center during the course of the day the 3am activity will reflect that.

Fear is one of the primary motivators in this world.

Ultimately the easy evaluation is to link it to a lack of 'love' as that article said, but that's like saying that land is dry because it doesn't have enough water. A more practical approach might be to see the connection to laziness. Somehow individuals must find the energy to push through the barriers that Life throws in the path. It seems that by the time most kids reach the age of seven they have suffered so many defeats and enjoyed so few successes that their creative side is all but completely shut down.

We can see the obvious and blatant use and abuse of the masses through fear based manipulations in everything from TV commercials to global warming deception as in An Inconvenient Truth, Health Insurance, retirement, all manner of 'social safety nets' etc., etc.

The control factor in the fear of Hell in modern religion is nowhere nearly so insidious and pervasive as the fear based manipulations of the masses by the Church of Liberalism.

I think Bruce is a pretty good source and reference;

From R. Bruce's book, Astral Dynamics page 304 (free download version, PDF format)

Privacy, Ethics, and OBE
An unfounded belief that out-of-body activities are policed from above continues in popularity today. Some believe that if projectors misbehave they will be stopped from having further OBEs — banned by a higher authority. Some even believe an astral police force watches out for and punishes unethical and immoral behavior.

According to my experience, this is a complete myth. There are some natural barriers associated with OBE, but no ethical or moral limitations. Conscience and natural consequence are the only true behavioral modifiers. Can you imagine the mind-boggling logistics keeping tabs on several billion projectors — on planet Earth alone, every night?

I have found no astral overseers policing the out-of-body environment during my many years of OBE exploration. Some of my out-of-body experiments have most severely tested this theory over the years. But nothing has ever hindered or stopped me from having further OBEs at will.

Sorry to spoil the party, but spirit people dont attack people, that pure fantasy and fiction, so need to worry about that...bad dreams are nightmares. Regards.

I mostly agree with this.

I think most often it is something people are in denial about in their waking life and the subconscious is trying to work it out.

Often it is something bad the person is doing to others around them and the last thing they are going to do is admit it to themselves consciously and change their behavior.

Sometimes it is something *really* bad that someone else did to them or is doing to them and they are in denial about. The subconscious is trying to work it out.

One thing that surprises me is the number of young people out there these days reporting negs, dark entities, bad dreams, etc.
I have been close to the Consciousness movement since the 1970's with meditation and dream work and such and what I see now seems unusually like an epidemic of sorts. I started teaching dream work in the 1980s and although not unheard of, it was much more rare then, than now. Do any of the older folks (over 40 or 50) here notice anything similar?
Or is it just these AP/OBE forums?
