Welcome to Dreams! / Dream about death..
March 22, 2006, 02:43:32
One of the things that gets me about dieing in dreams is the pain that is involved.  It is so intense, so real feeling.  Many of the things I have never experienced in real life before.  I mean I know what it feels like to get stabbed, punched, kicked, and to fall.  But I have never broken anything, been set on fire, and I have only been in one car accident and that wasn't until recently.  So I wonder how the body knows the pain of these things?

And what I really, really hate is when that pain some times caries over to being awake.  One time I got shot in the stomach and it hurt, a lot.  I eventually died of the wound, slowly mind you.  But when I woke up my stomach still hurt and my skin was all red where I was shot in the dream.  Luckily it does not happen all the time but frequently enough to be annoying.

kiwibonga,

That was an interesting read.  However I only hear that stuff when I am fully awake.  And for the most part in at that one location.

Welcome to Dreams! / Dream about death..
March 20, 2006, 01:27:08
Well lets see....In dreams anyway I have been.

Shot - a couple of times.
Stabbed - Numerous times.
Burned at the stake - but only once, and I am glad.
Run over
Car accident - several.
Slipped, fell, pushed, or thrown off of some thing and fallen to my death.

I can not give an actual number because I can't remember any more.  It's almost like asking how many times have you dreamed.  I could also add in all the times were I was either mortally wounded and didn't die but should have or died but had my spirit remain to continue the dream after looking at my dead body.

Oddly you get used to it.

I used to have that happen a lot when I worked at this one place.  The building was a metal frame building with a lot of equipment running.  But there were many times that I could hear a radio and a couple of times I actively looked for the source but never found it.  I knew with out any doubt that I was in the building alone.  It used to drive me a little batty so I fixed it by just turning a radio on really loud.  That way if I heard anything I knew the radio was on.

Welcome to Dreams! / Shadow People in my dreams
March 15, 2006, 05:35:07
Yeah there are a lot of stories on here about this kind of stuff.  Just use the search and look for "Shadow People" and "Dweller on the threshold".

It is a very common experience with only a very, very few of them anything of major concern.

99.9% of the people report no further problems once they confront the shadow.

The only problem is that for the last hundred years some one has been saying the world is going to end.  And almost always they revert to one religion or another having decoded it.  The problem I see with this is that you can read code into any book.  Just watch "Beautiful Mind" I think it's called.  That guy could find Nazi codes in any thing, and ended up just being crazy.

It's one of the reasons I don't often share what I see as being our future anymore.  I am most likely wrong and only dealing with personal fears.  I try to just live in the now.

But even if Aliens come down and actually make face to face contact, it doesn't mean we're all gonna die.

Unless of course it's the bad aliens.

Welcome to Quantum Physics! / Can Humans Explode
March 15, 2006, 01:34:03
To put it simply, yes.
It's called terminal velocity.  But it is not really exploding as it is more being liquefied.  There are a couple of different definitions for terminal velocity though.  But if a living thing is traveling at a sufficiently higher speed than it's environment there is a point at which the body breaks down.  Also there is the situation where enough G-force is created and the body crushes itself and will eventually liquefy.  And then there is the speed at which if you were to suddenly stop you would juice if you didn't slow down first.

Spontaneous Combustion is an interesting thing though too.  We have had a lengthy discussion about it already.

Those are a couple of interesting reads.

I do not see it as the end of the world per say.  But I do see war, I mean global war, and many a strange things happening as the curtain between this dimension and the next begins to fall.  But naturally with any great change there will be resistance from those afraid of the change, unwilling to change, or unable to change.  This is the normal human reaction.  The more widespread and impacting the change, the stronger and often more violent the resistance.

infra vision is very real, see the following link for more info.

http://www.star.t.u-tokyo.ac.jp

They have a hand-full of other cool projects as well.  Every one should check it out.  So far though none of there stuff is for sale as they are a research center.

-----

As far as the video goes....It was some very interesting stuff.  But it brought up several questions for me.  I am curious if the human eye is or ever was capable of seeing into the infra-red spectrum.  It would explain some of the myths of dragons, various gods, and such as the speaker was talking about.  Some thing I am still looking into.

The messages were to me in a way mildly disturbing.  What the guy did not go over and what several other web sites covered was that the binary disc may have been intended as an audio transmission with some possible video as well.  Most of the sites were a little fuzzy about weather or not they got an audio message out of the binary or not but the message they got from the written binary was a little different.  This is only because it is easier to translate from binary to English rather than binary to Spanish to English.

Welcome to Dreams! / Repeating dream.
March 05, 2006, 01:52:36
Well I hope everything goes well for you.

As far as the whole repeating dream bit, I would guess you are just one of the lucky ones that has them as a stress reaction.  Just seems like you have a lot going on in your life and all.  As annoying as it is some times to deal with a repeating dream like that, it is a far better reaction to stress than some of the other things that can go on.  It is a little easier to deal with on a psychological level when you have some thing to work with, like a dream, rather than just breaking out in a rash or some thing like that.

For those who really don't like going through this you can also try wiggling your toes and fingers.  This helps wake up the nervous system and can help end SP more quickly.

So the question becomes, what has changed in real life since the last time you had the dream?

and

Do you recall what you write about or what the contents of the test are in the dream?

DO you wake up to an alarm clock or naturally?

Brief loud noises can create the proper setting for SP as they can interrupt your sleep cycle.  More so when it is just long enough to get your brain attention with out actually waking you up.

The only other thing that I can think of is that because you don't sleep for that long you either A) different cycle for sleep, or B) are waking up in the middle of your last cycle and it is not completing for some reason.

Do you notice about how long you have been asleep when this happens?  IE is it closer to 4 hours or 6?  It may be helpful if you can figure out how long you have been asleep before waking up and keeping track of that for the days you have SP.

The average cycle takes 1.5 hours, if I remember correctly, with the last half hour being when your body goes through the regeneration cycle.  That is when your body is "shut down" the most.  Typically if you interrupt a cycle and don't get to the last part a person tends to require more sleep.  It could be that your regen cycle is longer thus requiring less sleep and creating the higher potential for SP.

Quote from: MisterJingoHi Cainam Nazier,

There must be other mechanisms for SP to occur than those given above. I say this as I remember my dreams in detail, and I rarely have what could be considered a nightmare. I suffer from SP regularly, and it usually happens in the morning when waking up, or when waking from a nap.
I have on occasion experience SP when going to sleep after waking in the night, this usually takes the form of getting involved in hypnogogic imagery, nearly a sleep and then the paralysis hits me.
I'm 26, and don't suffer from any medical condition (including sleep apnea). I've suffered from SP for as long as I can remember (I remember episodes as early as 5).
Strangely, my father suffers from regular SP too - although he never remembers his dreams and has never had any 'strange' experiences in the SP state (to his memory at least).
.

To me the simple fact that your father has the same problem even more so points to a medical issue.
So you don't have any problems that may impede breathing.
Asthma
Chronic Sinus Problems
Deviated Septum
Allergies
Collapsed Lung
----------------Other issues that can lead to similar problems.
Heavy or Deep Sleeper
Sleep Walking
Smoking
Alcohol
Drug Usage
Sleeping Pills

I know there are more, I will try and find them.

I have given blood on several occasions.  It's kinda fun.  I don't make a habit of it though.  I kinda only do it when it is convenient for me.  But UBS comes out to my work several times a year.  Mostly because I work at a hospital so we kinda understand their situation a little more.

There are a couple of different reasons they won't take your blood or anything else when you go in.  The most common is your body temp and heart rates.  Most people don't realize that.  The only problem is they can be off set very easily by being excited or nervous and the like.  There may not be anything wrong but they won't take the risk.  They test every pint of blood they get just to make sure but if they have to toss it costs them even more because of the loss of material and to pay for proper disposal.

I have got great veins for donating though, plus I am O+, so my blood has more uses.  My dad however is O-.  Boy do they love him.  He is a true universal donor.  Primarily though O- blood is reserved for babies, mostly premies, and other O- people.  So every, what six weeks, they call my dad to go in and give blood.  He has donated a couple of gallons so far.  The cool thing is they do a drawing every month for the people who donate at the location he goes to.  He won a 60" TV one time, we still have it.

Anyone on his life, sooner or later will cheat the one he she loves. That's what i think.

What do you think about this?

I do not think that this statement is true.  I never have and never will cheat on the one I love.  It is not in my moral character to allow for this.  In fact it is such a strong feeling in me that I could not even be the "one" that some one cheated with.  If I know , in any way shape or form, that you are in a relationship it just won't happen, and since I am not one to be "casual" in regards to the people that I know it will never happen.

Just to through a wrench into things, as I am often opposite the considered "normal".

I have experienced SP a total of 3 times.  None of the experiences were any good what so ever.  The last one came just after a dream that changed the way I look at the world and stripped all the abilities I had at that time.

However, SP is simply put a condition of your cognitive functions being active while the rest of the body is still asleep.  This can and does happen for a multitude of reasons and is not a direct function of astral projection or meditation of any kind.  Typically it is from an uncontrolled traumatic or psychologically shocking experience that forces the mind to wake up first with many being unable to recall anything prior to waking up.  Now one can put themselves into this state but I am willing to go as far as to day that it would not be a true SP moment.  Much the same as some one inducing coma or a catatonic state.  As with all self induced states it is not considered a "true" state because the individual has the control to stop it at any point in time that they wish.

Now since most of the people who report this are doing so as a pre-curser to either AP, LD, normal sleep, and after long periods of meditation I would say that the SP is self induced and not a true form.  Basically since they are working towards a certain goal they are not really experiencing SP but are experiencing early stages of AP, LD, or normal sleep.  Which would be a normal progression of that goal.

Now I am not sure if many of the people are experiencing true SP, where in they are already asleep, and then wake up being unable to move, ect.  In these cases however they are experiencing some thing that is psychologically shocking enough to their system to wake them up in the wrong order.  What ever the case, a dream, a semi lucid moment, or even a brief projection, their mind either unwilling or unable to deal with the situation therefor creating the psychological response.

There is also the possibility that some of the people, more so for the ones that report frequent SP with out any goals, have an actual medical condition that is causing SP to happen more often.  I would almost point to sleep apnea right away, a condition where a person has trouble breathing at night when the body relaxes and the brain is forced to wake up to re-align the muscles so the air way can be opened back up.  Now where I am in Arizona, USA the air quality is in such bad shape this year that this explanation is not that far fetched, and even less so among asthmatics.

Edit--
I would also point towards a possible psycho semantic response to explain the sudden rise in reports.  You know, we start talking about it and then every one has the same problem.  I have seen it happen before.  Or even possibly you just didn't notice until you started having the same problem.  Just like some one you know getting a new car, next thing you know you see the same kind of car all over the place.

Welcome to Astral Chat! / A Curiosity
February 16, 2006, 04:07:48
I have a request, possibly a strange one for some of you.  I know that no one here knows me in person.  You all only know me by what I write, so you only know the part of me I choose to share here.  But I will make the request anyway.

I would like to know what the people here think of me.  You know, what is your impression of me? What do you see are strengths or faults?  Things like this.

It would help me the most if people were honest, brutally if need be.

I feel a great need to change, to grow.  To work on the person that I am.  You see I know what I think are my strengths, weaknesses, and problems.  But I, being highly partial, may not see them all.  So I would like input from as many sources as possible.  The more I know how others view me, the more of myself I will see.  At least that is my logic.

Anyway, thanks for taking the time.

Welcome to Dreams! / Repeating dream.
February 14, 2006, 08:39:58
People have repeating dreams for several different reasons.

1.  Past emotional trauma. (abuse, assault, things like that)
2.  Fear based. (nothing wrong, just can't let go of a fear.)
3.  Some thing in current life situation parallels dream.
4.  Subconscious trying to relay a message that isn't being understood. (subconscious will repeat until a change is made.)
5.  A change in diet.  (what you eat can effect your dreams because of what it does to your body)

I know there are more things but I can't think of them right now.
#173
Isn't that just annoying.

However, I believe that, even when this happens and your conscious mind can not remember every thing that happened, you still carry what ever lesson you learned with you.  It seems to me that these things will manifest themselves into reality, even if it takes a while.  I have kinda figured this out when later thinking about dreams like this that I have had.  Some times the information seems to be "magically" recalled at a later date, but some how feels like I knew it all the time.

So for now, don't think about it.  And maybe later, in a week, month go back and think about it.
#174
See that is the thing I really would not describe what I was feeling as fear.  It was more like I knew I had to run, that they were there for me.

This was the 2nd dream on 02-07-06

Okay, just so you know, I am a big Star Trek nerd, okay.  I am fine with it and every thing.  But at least I am not one of those freaky people who dresses up in the uniforms and all that silliness.

So here I am in Star Fleet, and I do maintenance.  Now I knew my rank was just an ensign but for some reason I was important, I guess it was because I had some mad skills.

Apparently in the dream they had been pimping me out to other ships at this ship dock we were at that needed help repairing various systems.  I had just gotten back from one and was being sent to another one.  I was told to report to the Tralest.  A ship that was also docked there and needed their air purification system fixed.

I was beamed down the planet and had to wait for the ship to make it's orbit around the planet so I could beam up to the right one.  So I waited and all, it was no big deal, time passed really fast.

So I was headed towards this lift that was going to take me up to the right ship but for some reason I could not get to it.  I tried and tried but still could not reach the lift.  I was really getting annoyed.  But then it was like....Duh, you have a communicator, just call up there and have them beam you.  I made several attempts to get a hold of some one on the Tralest but no one was answering.  Because of that I was still trying to get to the lift.

Finally when I did get to the lift it was now under construction and could not be used.  By this time I was really ticked.  I tried one more time to get a hold of some one on the Tralest to transport me up.  Finally some one answered.  But the only responded with a come back later.

Now I was really ticked.  I took the communicator off my shirt and tapped it repeatedly.  Finally I got an answer.  The guy said I could come up but then started asking me questions.  Who I was, how many people were with me, and several others.   When I looked down at my communicator again it now looked like my palm pilot.  And on the screen there were like 3000 something questions that needed to be answered.  They guy on the line said hat when I was done answering the questions I could go aboard.  I started reading the questions but when I got to like number 5 the dream ended.  And I was happy it did.

In the dream I was ticked because of how much stupidity I had to deal with.   They knew who I was and what I was doing but still need to ask questions.  That is what was really making me mad.  That and the having every path I took blocked.
